Tv antenna

I was backing up and snagged the tv antenna, pulled it straight up before I realized it, now it won't raise or lower from inside. No visible damage on the roof, but there must be a gear stripped somewhere. Could that be accessed from inside or would I have to take it apart up on the roof?

The hardest part is getting up on the roof. Just went over mine today because the thing that turns the antenna got stripped so while I was replacing that and it was out, I went up and pulled out the long screw gear and greased it all. Also found out the bottom coax connector was just about to fall off. All you do is take off the handle and the turner thing on the inside. Then go up on the roof and pull the pins on the antenna at the bottom where you will see a half moom with teeth. Then remove the plastic cap on top and pull out the long screw thing that works the whole thing. Be careful not to lose the washers that are on the long screw thing, Sorry I don't know all the correct terminology for the parts, but once you start you will see it is fairly easy. If it is stripped out you can get parts from Amazon to any RV dealer.

Thanks for the video, I've never lubed my antenna after 8 years. I'll get it done soon.

I did something similar several years ago. I was ready to buy a whole new antenna but the RV supply place told me all I needed was the repair kit which included a couple parts, mainly the elevating gear, which I broke. Took about an hour to fix. Good luck!

Perform the maintenance as described in the video.
My antenna mechanism works smooth as silk now... better than new!
