fireplace mirror problem

Our Dimplex fireplace has an inside back "glass semi silvered" problem where the paper-like lamination has cracked, curled and peeled off 70% of the glass. Our rig is a 2008, so Dimplex will not cover it and said no one has ever had this problem before. They want $100 to replace this 25 3/4" by 12" piece of glass. Are we really the first to experience this? We are trying to think of gluing or painting on something. It's like an opague wax paper. We asking you all for ideas or experience. Thanks. Ed and Anita

Check with a glass company if they have anything that you can use. If they do it will probably be cheaper.
