Newport, OR

I will be teaching at a seminar for OSTC in May at Newport, OR. Does anybody know of any good campgrounds in the area, hopefully, with free wifi. Thanks for the help.

Mike,

There is a nice CG at the Marina just across the bridge. It used to be just a big old parking lot but they've made it into a very decent RV park. Just head east across the bridge and follow the signs to the Marina and RV park. Don't know their price structure since we stayed there when it was still just a parking lot. It is run either by the city or the county. Don't remember.

You will get outstanding sunset views from this location. You will also get some significant winds. But I'm sure you can handle everything just fine.

There is another CG just a bit east of the Marina. And I believe a large state CG just a bit further east on the beach. Don't know about services at state park. We just took a quick drive through it one day.

And I'm sure there are several more commercial parks around town.

We liked the Marina one and when we go back we will probably stay there again. Very easy access to the city and points east as well.

Good luck.

There are two or three in the near area according to my old Good Sam book. Check with the Newport tourist information for a local listing. If you do not have to be that close, like 1/2 mile you should be ok.

Just remembered that there are a couple on the old highway to Toledo, not fancy but you sit on the waters edge and and view cannot be beaten IMHO

The Southbeach State Park just south of the bridge is a great campground. I beleive 14 days is the limit on how long you can stay. They have great bike trails and you can ride to the Aquarium on the trail. No wifi unless someone has an unsecured one which happens quite often.

Here is a site that will give you some ideas for the area on things to do, unfortunately it does not provide any info on RV spots in Newport.

Have fun.

I see 4 RV parks in Newport, OR, proper under the category "RV Park."
I have never been in that area so I cannot attest to their status.

(541) 265-2109

Harbor Village RV Park
923 SE Bay Blvd, Newport, OR 97365
(541) 265-5088

Newport Marina
2120 SE Marine Science Dr, Newport, OR 97365
(541) 867-3321

South Beach State Park
5580 S Coast Hwy, South Beach, OR 97366
(541) 867-7451

Three miles up the highway are:

Agate Beach Trailer Park
6138 N Coast Hwy, Newport, OR 97365
(541) 265-7670

Outdoor Resorts Pacific Shores
6225 N Coast Hwy # 101, Newport, OR 97365
(541) 265-3750

To the South are:

Sawyer's Landing Marina & RV
4098 Yaquina Bay Rd, Newport, OR 97365
(541) 265-3907

TT/LEISURE Time Resorts Inc
50 SE 123rd St, South Beach, OR 97366

Hope this helps some.

I believe the Pacific Shores Resort is for motorcoaches only - at least it was the last time we were in Newport.

I would recommend, South Beach State Park, Beverly Beach State Park. The Marina is Ok. Outdoor Resorts Pacific Shores is Five Star and outstanding - we stayed there often when we had the Winnebago but no FW's allowed. State Parks in Oregon are clean and well run. Be careful parking - low hanging tree limbs can be a hazard in the state parks.

Thanks for the additional input. I need to start fishing in the next day or so, can't cut bait forever. I appreciate the input. Thanks.
