Storm Door

I made a storm door out of the plastic that is used in boat tops. It works great in summer when the door open also in Winter for the same reason. I also added a sony stero and an auto awning. We are full timers and are in FL right now. We pull with a Ford 250, 6.0 deisel, with 4 inch exhaust and airaid. Also air ride suspension. Take off the screen door and trace it on the plastic. take it to an awning shop and have them sew it around the edges. put snaps on the door and the awning. Any questions give me a call. Good camping, Jerry, Peg and Cody our silkie

Jerry, that is a great idea. Here is a link to the one we use on our Mountaineer. It allows the great outdoors inside on those hot or cold days.

fulltimedreamer: that is really nice. We were looking at a guard for the grandchildren but this I think is a much better and cheaper solution. Thank you for posting this!

Lamar I've been thinking of something like that for our door but wasn"t sure how to attach, thought about velcro but don't think it would hold going down the road. Think you have it nailed!
thanks

I am new to this forum writing - so here goes. I did the storm door using plexiglass similar to MTMAN1313, only have the plastic on the inside ( except for the small window by the slider - that is on the outside.) Used strips of velcro all around and it works great - no problems with the wind, and protects screens from inside. I also replaced the white plastic slide on the screen door with plexiglass - also works fine and removes one more visual obstruction when outside door open. This forum is great and very much appreciated.

Welcome, Don & Sumi! Thanks for posting this information. Sounds like a good solution, as are the others in this thread.

Is there some kind of handle on the plexiglass you used to replace the white slider or is a flat panel not a problem? Just wondering how this works. Thanks.

Steve, I just drilled a hole and used a simple knob. The latch from the outside door on mine barely touched the flat plexiglass, so another hole covered with a piece of velcro = below the knob. I will see if I can figure how to upload a picture. Thanks Don
