Bathroom light switch - 3400

It was annoying to turn on the bathroom light from the outside. At night, this lit up the bedroom. I moved the switch from the bedroom side to the inside of the bathroom. I ordered a couple of "speed wire" switches from Dyers. The single rocker switch covered the cutout for the double switch in the bedroom. Be careful when you cut the hole for the bathroom switch, as the vent pipe runs up inside the wall close to the door jamb. Locate the switch at least 4-5 inches from the door jamb. The wires are long enough to mate up with the new switch. Now we don't forget to turn the light off, and also, it doesn't disturb the person sleeping. Total cost, $19.01 for two switches and two switch plate covers.

Great idea! We have been wondering if this would be possible. Please post some pics if you have them.

I also switched the fan. It took all the stretch I could muster (even using the edge of the book) to reach the fan switch so I cut into the wire and put a surface mounted switch beside the throne.

If I may show my ignorance, what is a 'speed wire' switch? Is that the ones where you push the bare wire into the hole until the clip catches and holds, as opposed to the kind where you wrap the wire under a screw head?

Thanks.

Just shows they are all different, our switch is inside the washroom so no problems at night. Diana

How about a three way switch so you can turn it on or off from either location?

I've never 'seen' a 12v three way, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I like the three way idea with a red led light to remind me when I leave the inside switch on.
