Splendide Broke?

Has anyone had experience with their Splendide washer/ dryer having severe issues during the spin cycle whereas the SS drum is spinning out of control and banging inside the plastic tank? I took the top off and observed the fly wheel in the rear wobbling and noted the SS drum was loose in the plastic tank. I checked the anchors, bolts, etc. and everything seemed tight.

I am thinking the bearing must have worn out or something else broke. Has anyone tried to get a replacement tank/ drum? Of course it is out of warranty so I can imagine the cost to take it to CW and get it fixed....

Any help is always appreciated!

Les

Thanks John. I did send them an e-mail and will follow up with phone call shortly. Hopefully it is not as bad as it looks.

They are great to work with. Definitely give them a call. They will also know of places other than CW that can work on it.

Quick update...

Splendide responded back same day and was very helpful. After assessing the issue they got back to me with an offer to send me a new tank/ drum assembly for the cost of shipping.

It looks like an all day deal to take apart and put the new tank assembly in place but for the cost hopefully it will be worth it. I am betting CW would have charge what would have mounted to half the cost of a new machine.

Will post pics of replacement operation once complete.

Well folks, Spendide came thru big time. After discussing the problem with them they decided to send me an entire new SS drum kit. Although the W/D was out of warranty they came thru and only charged me fo shipping the new drum to us for $80.

So after Christmas on a nice chilly Sunday morning I decided to have at it and repair the W/D. All toll it took about 2 1/2 hours of taking all the parts and pieces off and then putting it all back together again.

The DW is now happy again that she can do the wash and not have to worry about the W/D going thru the wall and we can now actually hear the TV and talk again with out sounding like we were living in a construction zone with jack hammers!

Here are some pics of the process...

Good to know. I hope you replaced the drive belt while you had it apart

I am curious as to what exactly failed. It appears there are shocks/struts that support the drum and limit it's movement, is that correct and did a mounting point for those break?

Actually what went bad was the bearing that seated the inner SS drum in the plastic outer tank. For whatever reason with the bearing going bad the inner SS drum would slam against the tank something terrible during the spin cycle which gets up to 1200 RPM. Would make the whole trailer seem under heavy artillery shelling!

Now she works great!

Thanks for all the info and pictures, looks like a fair job getting it all apart and back together.
