On the road to Canada and points in between

We are currently parked at the I35 RV Park just north of Waco as we began our summer vacation to Canada and other locations. We stopped in Salado Texas to do a volksmarch (6 mile walk) around the town. Salado is a small town located on the Salado River near Temple Texas. It is known for its many bed and breakfasts and small antique shops and sits on the old Chisolm trail.

Tomorrow we intend to move up to Oklahoma City to complete another walk in our quest to walk in all 50 states and 51 capitals. We have walked in 20 states missing only the capitals of Virginia and Mississippi.

We are posting photos and a blog in http://www.mytripjournal.com/MoonCanadaTrip2009

Mark,
I'm in Virginia so I'll step off the steps and do a 3 pace walk around and credit it to you. Will that work? I mean, 3 paces is touching the ground, right?

Good luck. Depending just how long you are in Canada, and where our travels through Canada take us, we jut may meet or pass you.

Happy trails.

If you are passing through Western Canada and particularly the Canadian Rockies please keep us on your Radar. We would be more than happy to meet/ host you in our area. We live near Edmonton, Alberta and it is just a Super Country especially in the Summer! Lots of daylight!! Ellis

We will be coming up from Lethbridge through Calgary and Edmonton on our way to Jasper and then Banff. We have reservations at both the KOA in Jasper and the Banff Tunnel Mountain Park. I don't have the dates in front of me but I will be happy to let you know

We are anticipating being in Calgary on June 20th and Edmonton on June 23. I have not yet made any reservations for these locations. I would appreciate your opinion on whether we should go ahead and make reservations.

msmoonsatx,
I don't remember when the Calgary Stampede is held but if you don't know it would be a good idea to check. When the Stampede is happening rooms and RV spaces are VERY hard to come by.

If you are into dinosaurs then you MUST visit a little town near Calgary. They have a world class dino museum! It is a MUST see! It is just outside the little town of Drumheller. It is slightly east and north of Calgary.

Have fun and travel safely.

There are 2 parks in Alberta that are good both are membership parks but they will take in non members the one in Lethbridge is called Brideview RV Resort and the one in Drumheller is Dinosaur Trail RV Resort. The trip to Drumheller to the museum is well worth the trip. The Calgary Stampede is July 3-12. Hope this helps.

We stopped in Drumheller on our way back from Alaska last year and absolutely LOVED both the museum and the Dinosaur Trail RV Resort. We extended our stay to a week just because it was a lovely park on the river.

As Dennis (HamRad) said the Royal Tyrell Museum is WORLD CLASS. You won't find a better designed or more interesting museum anywhere.

Hi Mark and Suanne; we're on the run here and will try and get you some events etc that is happening in this area. We live on a farm just 10 miles east of Edmonton just north of the Yellowhead highway and if your not particular you can camp in our yard at no cost. We have both 30 Amp 120 volt and 40 Amp 220 volt(welder) plugs in the yard so lots of power and a soft water well. No animals only grow alfalfa.
Keep in contact and we'll try and access what is going on at that time along with different events; let us know what type of sight seeing you prefer. Ellis & Yvette

Bridgeview RV Park in Lethbridge is a very nice park and gets our vote anytime we are in the area.
