Slide Glides

I bought a set of these while I was putting down my kitchen floor so I wouldn't pull the carpet back with the slide when I had to move the 5er. Don't buy them. My experience was that one person had to run the slide controls while the other had to ensure that the glides stayed in position for the slide to ride up on. I will try them a couple of more trips and if there is not some method I can develop to make it a one person operation...hold off guys until I can figure this out. If someone out there has already purchased them, has your experience been like mine? If you figured out a method to make them work without manually inserting them while the slide was incoming, please let me know.

This is the first time I have heard of slide guides. My big slide stays off the floor as it comes in. I would be concerned about using something that lifts the slide up.
Are these slide guides widely used or recommended by Lippert? Just curious.

I have had good luck with them underneath the main slide in my 2980RK. If you are using them on anything other than carpet which they were designed for ... you may have a problem holding them in place. I move the slide in a couple of inches ... place the slide glides firmly underneath the slideout ends as it comes up the plastic ramp, then continue to close the slide ... works like a charm everytime. I will admit, if you just try to close the slide without the above method, they won't always stay in place. They do eliminate the wear area and discoloration (after you clean it) in the carpet on the ends of the slides. From my experience, I would recommend them. They are only about 1/4" thick and are made my Lippert. http://www.quickdrawproducts.com/ind...?DocumentID=10

Which immediately brings the question; Why didn't they design a better slide operation, so we don't have to go to an aftermarket device to have a finished product?
All we have to do, is list the aftermarket products to make an RV livable, to know it's weaknesses.

Thanks for the info. So far my living room slide has made no marks on my carpet. I will keep an eye on it and the link above says the quides are 1/8th " thick. That is all I need to know so If I ever need them, I'll make my own.

I was using mine on carpet...it was just the last 8 inches that was over lino. My slide is leaving an impression on the carpet and I just want to protect it. I will use diselguy's method in a couple of weeks when I head out again. In fact, I will do it this weekend when I check my battery water and replace the step trim. I will keep you posted.
