Quiet Hood Fan

Hi All,

That exhaust fan has always bugged us, because it's so loud. I know I could have changed to a better fan, but simply never around to doing it.

I remember reading about someone who tried a rehostat with success.

Remembering that, I thought about a automotive Heater switch with built in resistors.

I found a 3 speed switch at NAPA that worked out very well. A simple install. Just made a couple of short leads, unplug the old switch, a little filing or a dremel, does the trick.

On low speed it still does a fine job, with much less noise.

Nice job! Another improvement to add to my list.

I liked the picture of the knob that says "HEAT" right beside the "Light" switch. Wonder how long someone might wait for the temperature to go up when a new owner takes possession?

Sounds like a great improvement! I have wanted to change out my water closet fan as well as the hood fan for some time now. Since I am not the handiest of guys, it has not been done. Hope to get around to that soon.
