vented vs nonvented Washer Combo
Looking to buy a Combo Washer/dryer. They come vented and non-vented. What are the pro/cons of the two setups?

This is a question that has been asked a lot, in fact I just asked the same/similar question just last month. My question is in the additions/improvements thread. It seems the general consensus is vented. I have also heard of venting into your grey tank if you don't want to drill holes into your walls for an outside vent. Don't know much about that though, maybe someone on this site does.

The general consensus has been that a vented is better, and faster to dry. (disclaimer, mine is vented). The non vented heats the clothes to turn the water to steam, then uses cold water to condense that steam to water, and drain that condensed water (along with the cold water) to your sewer (which may be to the grey tank or directly to the sewer outlet). Not only does it take longer, but it also uses a lot more water for that process. And some who have the non vented say the clothes still come out feeling somewhat damp. BUT, there are some who have said they were satisfied with the results.
The con of the vented is that you must cut a fairly large hole in the wall for the vent. But many here have done just that.

We have non vented. We usually hang clothes out to dry. Dryer will dry them, but takes a long time and tends to leave many wrinkles

I've had both. You couldn't give me another non-vented unit. Not only does it take forever to dry a load, But it makes the room steamy.

Just ordered Ariston stackable units yesterday since they are on sale at CW. Got vented again. Our first Montana had a non-vented combo and that was a huge mistake. Extremely small loads and they took forever.
