Lead acid vs AGM Batteries?
Need to replace my group 27 house batteries. Should I go with AGM or just stay with lead acid. Not interested in converting to litium.

I bought AGMs from Sams Club in Dec 2021…$199 each. We had an ice storm in TX Dec 2022 and we were without power + temps in the teens for 5 days at the S&B. I was running the furnace at a low temp because I did not winterize the washing machine. The batteries were drained and ruined them. Sams was having issues getting the AGMs in stock - so I went back to lead acid. I will probably go back to AGM in the future…and fortunately the washer did not freeze.

Why do you feel AGM's are an upgrade? I had leveling issues and bought larger LA batteries. Problems still persisted. Went to Lithium, eliminated self healing breakers - problems are gone.

AGMS are a nice upgrade for some because they require NO servicing.. I prefer GC2 batteries.. two of these outperform most any other and last many years.. Mine are currently 8 years old
Lithium is nice for those that have spare cash to spend.. and you also in most cases have to add in the cost of a new converter plus a DC to DC charger ...

Why not interested in Lithium? Lithium is an upgrade. The prices have dropped so much that they are a no brainier. You're paying $400 for AGM when you can get two 100 AH lithium for $640. I bought these and love them. https://www.temgot.com/products/smar...app-monitoring

I agree with Tony. You will find lithium cost has gone down and a lithium charger is not absolutely required.

If you're only going to need them for 1 or 2 years, I would go with Lead-acid. It's going to be cheaper and would be a waste to spend extra $$ on AGM or Lithium if it's only for the short term. When you trade it in, you probably aren't going to recoup anything you spend on batteries.
As far as flooded vs AGM I tend to stick to flooded, but only because we don't boondock/dry-camp much and can't justify the added expense of upgrading. Maintaining them is pretty easy if you get yourself a $5-10 pump sprayer for your distilled water. If we used the batteries more, I would definitely go Lithium.

Even cheaper, a $1 turkey baster from the dollar store works great to put distilled water into batteries.

I'll stick with what works which is AGMs. Put them in and forget about them. They can be had for less than $200.

Changed the original equipment battery to two AGM's iN 2011 and have insisted on AGM's ever since. Wouldn't go back and never worry about the batteries.

I went AGM when I replaced my dealer provided flooded battery. The major advantage is AGM does not self discharge as much as the LA flooded while not in use. They are more cold weather tolerant. I can leave them in the RV 6 weeks + at a time during winter weather.

My Question is, my LA batteries x3 are used as both house batteries and gen start. Would consider LifePO4 battery replacement but have been told can't use as starting battery. Has anyone tried this?

I have lithium that are used for everything 12 volt including gen start. You got wrong info.
