Loading Updates to Garmin 260W - UPDATE
Thanks to all for the replies to my first post on loading update maps to my Garmin Nuvi 260W. After reading all the replies, I decided to go for it and ordered the Lifetime Downloads. It proceeded as several of you said.
I guess most of you have a real fast internet connection. I have a DSL line but it is not fast. It took a little over 6 hours to download the maps. It then took about 4.5 hours to extract and set up the maps, and then load the maps to the unit. I started around 2 pm and finally finished at 10:30 pm!
I tried the unit this morning and everything seems to work OK but I have noticed that several of my favorite listings have some funny Chinese or Japanese characters at the end.
Thanks to all.

OK Steve, I will. By the way, I see that we are both in the same boat with our DW's!!. Judy broke her right lower leg a week ago Monday by missing the last step on the Monty. Glad it happened at home and not on the road.
I tried calling them the other day before I embarked on this adventure and the wait time was over 30 minutes.

John...I have had good success with emails to them. They usually respond within 1 day. Sorry to hear about Judy's' fall - that can sure mess up your summer plans. I hope she is doing well with healing. Let her know we are thinking about her and wishing her the best. When you consider the age of a lot of people RVing, it's a wonder that more people don't fall.

I've also had good responses by email as well as by phone. But I did have some wait time by phone. Email response was within a day, like Steve experienced.
I didn't have any strange characters in my data after the update so something is weird with yours.
I hope all goes well for Judy and she heals quickly.
