I plan to go south for the winter and have a few basic questions
1.what is a good amount of power cord length to have,I have a 3295 model 50 amp.
2.Don't know what camping clubs to join,I'm looking at traveling from Jan to May and then returning back home for seasonal camping(NY)

Depending on where your power cord plugs in, 25 to 35 feet should work. I have seen electric pedistals anywhere from the back of the trailer to the front. The longer the power cord, the more voltage drop you will have. Many parks have low voltage problems, so you don't want to make matters worse.

We are Good Sam members, but have not joined any other clubs yet. Passport America has been recommended by several people we have talked to.

I always carry the 50amp cord that came w/ my coach along with a 30' 30amp cord as well. Both of these are stored in my laundry basket.

We only carry the 50amp cord that came with the Monty and then a 30 amp adapter.
We have belonged to Good Sam for 15 years - life members. We just joined Passport America and one trip paid for the membership. We may join Escapees when we start full timing next year.

Gary, First of all Welcome to the MOC family.

In 99% of the campgrounds your 50 AMP cord that came with the rig should be sufficient but it would not hurt to pick up a 50 Amp to 30 Amp adapter as you will run into some older parks that only have 30 AMP service. That adapter can be picked up at the new Camping World in Hamburg.

As Far as Camping Clubs we belong to 2 and highly recommend both.
Good Sam's Club allows a 10% nightly rate discount at many campgrounds and I also recommend looking at their Emergency Road Service. Something an RV shouldn't be without.
Passport America is a 50% nightly rate discount at participating campgrounds. The cost is $44 a year but you will recoup that in just a few stays.

So I understand you are a "snowbird". If so, do you plan on spending nights or days in a rv park? If so, Passport America is probally your best bet/ If you stay in state parks in route or dry camp in out of the way places,truck stops, walmarts, city parks, etc, you dont need any. No camping club that I know of give discounts for anything over two days, so none except Membership clubs allow for discounts for long term parking.

In many campgrounds taking Passport America we have gotten the 50% on anything up to and including a week and 2 or 3 even gave us 50% off for 2 weeks. Doesn't happen often but it does happen.

We used our Passport America Membership in Tombstone Arizona (Tombstone Territories RV Park last Winter and stay 10 days on it. We also belong to Good Sam (Life Members) and Escapees (new members). We stay a lot in State Parks in Oregon, because as a Veteran, we can use them free ($6 reservation fee. And besides we love the Parks here. But when traveling out of state, we try to find Good Sam Parks first, sometimes the discounts will apply if you are a AAA member or AARP - though AARP is far and few between. We have used AAA a few times. Snowbirding is a heck of a ride, expect everything to happen, some of it will. Info on power cords has been same for us when we travel - 2 cords, and adapters - might want to have a small arsenal of different types of sewer hoses and adapters as well as filters on your water line (see previous posts)...Happy Trails - Welcom to the MOC...glad you are aboard.

We carry the standard 50 amp cord plus a 30 amp rv extension cord and an assortment of adapters. If I'm in doubt whether the cord will reach, I plug it into the coach and check the length before unhitching. That's after having had to re hitch and move the rig so the cord would fit.

We belong to Passport America, Escapees, Good Sam, and AARP. All four offer discounts in various parks although mostly that's on daily rates. Occasionally a park discounts the weekly and monthly rates for those clubs also but generally not. Weekly and monthly rates are already discounted.
