Battery question
We purchased a new 2018 3731FL and does anyone know if it should come with 2 batteries upon purchase?
I only have one in a two battery case and believe it should come with two according to a customer that purchased same rv from same dealer. My dealer is a bit shady so want to do my homework before I confront them.
Seems this dealer don’t give up any info unless asked and there is so much going on to learn about being it is a first time RV purchase for us.

I think the battery is supplied by the dealer so whatever they choose to install is what you get.

Totally agree...battery/batteries are a dealer supplied item.

Do you have a normal Propane/Electric RV Fridge or a Residential Fridge with an inverter? Generally units with the Residential Fridge package come with two batteries.

I have the residential fridge.
It has been plugged in 50 amp service for 2days.Unpluged last night this morning fridge not on.
Checked voltage on the one battery 12.2 volts.
Is the inverter suppose to be on when plugged in?

Devil,
The number of batteries would depend on how you set up the deal. One is normally standard but most would recommend two with a residential reefer.
Your inverter does not charge the battery - the converter charges the battery. Check to see you battery switch is on - if not the battery will not charge.

If you have the residential refrigerator, you should have two batteries. The inverter doesn't need to be on all the time, only when you are NOT plugged in to shore power.
We have a residential in our new rig with two 12 volt batteries and are able to get about 18 - 19 hours of run time on the fridge before the inverter starts to alarm at about 11.3 volts. Hope this helps

We have a residential fridge. Batteries are like tires. Just the minimum to get you off the lot. During our PDI I asked about having 2 batteries and they said I would have to pay extra for them.

Well I talked to dealer and they said my salesman should have taken care of me on the 2nd battery beings the fridge is residential.
I’am a first time buyer and not familiar with all these appliances in rv’s.Obviously my salesman didn’t look out for me only his pocket.
I looked up the battery they put in and it has a rating of 1.5!Cost $89.99 and dealer tells me another battery $150.00 and $50.00 install?
I hate that I even got myself involved with this rv because the dealer has a bad smell to me.
I’am going to have a conversation with my salesman. If he doesn’’t look out for me I’am going to have another conversation with the dealers Facebook account mentioning my salesman and dealers shady business.Word travels on the internet.
It’s a shame the money we spend and they take advantage of the public.

Devil,
You will want a pair of matching batteries. You are probably better off installing 2 new ones - you don't want two unmatched batteries. You might consider two large 6 volt golf cart batteries hooked in series depending on how you plan to use your rig.
Shame you couldn't spend more time on the forum earlier to become a more informed consumer. Most of us have learned lessons along the way as we have moved from rig to rig.
My rig came with a single 12 volt battery but I installed 4 golf cart batteries fairly quickly as I do some boondocking.
In general RV dealers don't tend to be the best source for batteries. You will also need to add additional battery cables.

The batteries the dealer supplies are usually not very good. Better to buy 2 new batteries and cables. If this is the only problem you had with the dealer consider yourself LUCKY.

What I didn’t say was we purchased our 2018 3731FL Aug of last year 2017.Had some łissues that needed taken care of and took 2 months to get appt.Took unit in Dec 21 2017.
Didn’t get back until this month May 21 2018 being just a few days ago.So home 2 days and today I find out about the battery.
Understand it could definetly be a lot worse but still fired me up some.

If you can spare go for 2 Lithium Batteries right away.
No maintenance, no watching for discharge to deep etc.
Also Inverter or Inverter/Converter combo is added easy inclusive solar on a later stage.

Am I reading this correctly it took 5 months for them to give the rig back? You are a very patient guy if this is true. Personally I would find another dealer.

Lithium batteries are very capable and safe and although prices have come down some they are still very pricey. Good choice for someone with deep pockets who plans to boondock a fair amount. A single 100 AH battery runs about $1K. You would still need two for a residential refer or 4-6 for serious boondocking.

i thought so too. My pockets are not deep - but I know I just don't care enough on the batteries.
Alternative is to get AGM's and then I would need most likely 4 6V or 3 12V which brings me to 600-800.
Blown them once will bring me straight on the cost for 2 LI Batteries.
Ask me how I know, just blew a pair.
I just have no patience to take the time for batteries - thats why I bought that time with those LI batteries.
Different view I guess.
Mike

Ours came with 2 batteries and after 2 yrs one went bad. Replaced with same Interstate type. Later other one went bad and replaced with BiMart battery, so we have two different brands and different yrs. We don't dry camp so batteries only needed to run jacks when hooking up. Hasn't caused a problem that I know of.
