Propane tank question
I have a Montana with dual propane tanks I was sick for a several weeks and was not able to go to my farm and switch out tanks. When I finally made it down there both were totally empty. I had a spare and attached it One side I closed the tank and removed the pigtail. I then opened the valve on the one I installed slowly. The lever was pointed towards that tank and turned green. I then lit the stove biurners for about 5 minutes. I then tried the furnace and the fan came on but would not ignite. I tried the reset button on the furnace with no luck. Is there a sequence that I should follow or any ideas

You did everything correct. Maybe try turning the furnace off at the thermostat and back on for new trials for ignition.

Did you try the furnace more than once? Depending on the piping, if the furnace is at the end of the piping it is possible it still had air in the lines even after operating the stove.

I would ignite the hot water heater also and as BB said, cycle the heater several times.

Are you using a small 10lb propane grill tank?
Any chance it doesn't quite have enough pressure?
The furnace and gas water heater require high volume of gas. There is a furnace troubleshooting file in the files section of the webpage.

I have the larger 20 pound tanks. Unit is also winterized, so the water heater is drained.

Confirm that your batteries are charged using a multi meter. Light one burner on the stove. Then set your thermostat to come on. It may still have air in the lines. Let it cycle through several times. Let us know what you find.

My neighbor had the same issue. Told her to look behind the furnace cover on the outside of the RV and flip the breaker switch located there. Instant furnace heat.

A couple weeks ago, one of our MOC members at our Quartzsite circle couldn’t get his furnace to stay on. It would start, the burner would ignite, and anywhere from 5 to maybe 30 seconds later the flame would go out. After that, maybe 15 seconds later it would ignite again while the fan continued to run, and it would continue to cycle like this. He finally found a repair guy in town, and after testing everything, found the regulator was only working at about 9 inches water column instead of 11 inches. Once he adjusted the regulator, the furnace worked properly. This was a 2019 Montana.

I've found that when my tanks run dry sometimes, the furnace won't start. don't know why but i turn on the heat pump. Then after it starts I cycle back to furnace and it works.

Thanks everyone. I've tried the majority of your tips. I am going to fill the second tank, unhook the first one and start over. turning on both real slow separately. Turn my stove burners on first and let run for awhile and then try the furnace again. Will update once I get down and try again. Oh on the batteries I'm on shore power.
