Sirius renewal
Like a lot of people my truck came with an integrated Sirius radio and a one year trial subscription that was due to expire April 1st. I've been receiving reminders/offers in the mail and email weekly with a common theme, 1 year for $175 or 12 mo for the price of 11. Based on a recommendation I saw on line I called their number and at the voice prompt said "cancel". The nice lady who answered the phone almost immediately offered me $96 for a year which I was willing to pay. $96 seems to be about the best available price.

If you like satalite radio, I signed up for the lifetime subscription on our car. If you are keeping your vehicle for a while it will more than pay for itself.

They are willing to make a deal. How much is the lifetime?

Lifetime? There's lifetime?
Here's my story. In 2006, when I bought my Pioneer Nav for my truck I wanted the XM traffic feature which cost $3 per month. They did not sell it alone and had to get the XM satellite radio for the additional $10 per month. So I ordered a 3 year plan for radio and traffic for a hair over $300 otherwise it would have been $468 for three years. In 2009, I resubscribed again for about the same price.
Somewhere in between now and the first subscription, XM merged with Sirius and I now receive all satellite programming from XM and Sirius for the same subscription.
In summary, I have been paying a little over $300 for 3 year subscriptions that include the traffic status. I'm just getting ready to do this again and will look for the lifetime thing.

Whenever I renew either the Sirius or XM for the year I state I want the $77.00 advertised special and with tax and royalties, that comes to about $92.00 per year.

I bought the lifetime with my '06 Dodge. I think I paid around $400. I just transferred it to my Ford, they charge $75 for the transfer. I think I am limited to 4 transfers. Not sure if the plan is still available.

I have XM on my truck and the wifes car. I had to renew in jan got to cking and found out that they had just renewed the truck for me on a credit card that they were not suppose to even have. the told me that they could not do that but I had the bill and had to get the credit card co to get involved to get them to take me off the auto renewal list. so you need to watch that they don't do it to you and you can't stop them when you renew you have to call back in 3 wks to stop it. BTW I payed 320.00 for this yr for 2 vehs thats why I wanted off renewal I need to talk to someone before I pay again.

My XM subscription is up this coming May so thanks for the good info. Once again this forum is well worth much more than I paid for it. Wait...I didn't pay anything for it. NOW THIS IS A DEAL!

I have my new subscription planned. I was able to get JUST the Nav Traffic option by itself and did not have to buy the radio option, too. That saved me hundreds!
For whatever reason they said the lifetime was not available. However, I got the NAV Traffic only, for $124 for 3 years. Since we have AM/FM/CD and a disk library (like an IPOD) we didn't listen to Satellite radio much lately.

I always bargain with Sirius, tell them that the $160.00 renewal is too much. So far they have always offered to renew at around $90.

They may have changed their policy, but several years ago you could not transfer a LifeTime from one TV to another if it was a Factory installed Radio. Now if it's a portable unit, yep it can be transferred to another person even. I just know I had to do some fancy footwork to get my subscription xfer'd from our 2005 to 2011 TV.

The real way to negotiate with Sirius is to tell them they are too expensive then let them cancel you. A short time later you will get their Please Come Back Offer. Six months for $25. Of course they will automatically renew you after that time is up by billing your credit card at the regular rates, unless you call their toll free number and cancel again. This is my second time around with them. And so it goes.
I refuse to pay $96 for their service which has started to bug me by having to listen to DJ's ramble on and on. I want straight music, no talk. If they want to announce the name of the song, fine, but after that, silence on their part would be great. At least they haven't gravitated to loud obnoxious car dealer ads.

We renewed our SiriusXM a few months ago for $85 for a year.
Also, did you know you and can suspend your subscription for up to 5 months?
Since we only use our truck for camping and it sits for a few months at a time, I am able to suspend it while we are home which extends my subscription.

I prefer the portable Sirius installation. That way I can take it from vehicle to vehicle. I did purchase another vehicle kit/w antenna so all I have to do is transfer the small receiver. It works well for us. I understand that there is a home kit that the receiver can be used with, but we don't typically listen to radio at the house.
For each installation I installed the system myself and I placed the "hockey puck" antenna in the middle of the dash. Only time I have had problems is traveling directly north, an when that happens we have the iPod with about 40+ days of continuous listening on it.
JMHO
Happy trails.

Last year I switched to a single year plan after renewing two consecutive 3 year plans cuz I don't travel as much and was not sure I would keep it. CHECK THIS OUT; I just received my invoice yesterday for a one year renewal due May 15th and it is as follows:
Subscription Fee $197.89
Music Royalty Fee $15.62
YIKES! After reading these posts, I think some negotiations are in order.

Update:
Today I re-negotiated with SiriusXM and the total was reduced to:
$107 One year subscription
$8 Music royalty fee
$115 total
Almost a $100 savings...Thanks Montana Owners!

They auto renewed after I told them last year not to. Called and they said auto renew was the only way to pay for it so we told them to cancel. They reconsidered and gave it to me at a greatly reduced rate.Think the rate was the same as above.
