Propane Valve Operation

Hello,
I have a 2011 Motana 3585SA and the propane selector is really a thorn in my side. Can someone please tell me how this valve works?
the valve can point toward either bottle and also has a center position. I ASSUME that when in the center position both bottle feed and only one bottle feeds the system when the selector is pointed to the bottle.
Thanks.
Grant

Grant,
Welcome to the forum.
The selector switch points to the "primary" bottle. By primary I mean the one you intend to draw from. If that primary bottle goes empty then it automatically switches over and pulls from the secondary (other) bottle and the green indicator goes RED. If that secondary bottle is not turned on then no propane.
Before you disconnect the empty bottle remember to turn the "switch to the new primary bottle - the full one). If you don't you will have a propane leak out the hose when you disconnect the empty bottle. Voice of experience.
[s]I believe the center position is off for both bottles but not sure on that.[/s] Per below Center does nothing.

Just went through another class where propane valves and tanks were a "hot" topic. Per the manufacturer, the "center" position is nothing. It does not shut off both tanks, nor does it draw from both tanks in that position. It's just "there" to cause us to ponder things, I guess. Manufacturer wouldn't say any more, due to liability concerns, most likely (we might take the valve apart to see???). Otherwise, what John Kohl says is correct about the "left/right" positioning of the selector switch, the red/green indicator, etc.

I personally have a 40 pound tank on one side, and the standard 30 pound on the other. The 40 is my "main" tank, the 30 is a backup. Also, a 40 pound wouldn't fit on the one side, due to positioning of piping.

Thanks Terry I was mistakenly under the impression that the middle was a shutoff also.
