Bullet hole

Found a bullet hole in the drivers side of the Monty. It looked to be a 22 cal. and went in between the 2 slides right above and to the right of the water heater. Upon checking inside it was in the water heater compartment under the cupboard shelf and had penetrated the black tank flush line. Didn't find the bullet yet as with all the other hoses and material on the floor. might have rattled back in a corner somewhere. Changed out the flush line and filled the hole with caulk. Hate to think what might have happened if it penetrated the propane line or even ruined the water heater.

Good grief! That is terrible. I am glad no one was hurt and no more damage was done.

Glad you're ok and the damage isn't worse. Do you know where it happened?

That would definitely be a reportable incident IMHO. Glad no one was hurt. As already asked, do you know where you were at when it happened?

Allen, do you realize how calm you sound? There is a bullet hole and you are worried about changing out lines and patching holes? You are way more braver than anybody I know. I have no idea how I would react, but if my wife saw it, it would definitely be more than a couple of fixits.

Such is life in MT, eh?

The only thing I've learned in life that's always true is when you think you've heard or seen it all something else bad is still in the wings.

Not sure where it happened other than maybe on Interstate 90, could have happened going from Flathead Lake to Billings and back, Upsetting as it was not anything the law can do unless other reports come in. At least it has been reported. To little for the ins. company to mess with so just patch it and keep on camping. The hole was small and it cracked the paint finish around it a bit. Getting it ready to head south in the next few days and then will try and patch it better in the warmer climate. At least I didn't hook up the black tank flush which could have been a disaster in its self before replacing the line.

Glad no one was hurt and you found the damage before it did become a disaster. The worst that ever happened to us was between Marysville, WA and our home in Oak Harbor when someone shot our back window with a paint ball gun. Fortunately there was no damage and the paint washed off.

It would still be a good idea to report it to the state police. They may have received other reports and it might add another piece to the puzzle.

Wow, now I've heard it all. Please don't think I am making light of this serious issue but here in Concord, Ma we have a house with a musket ball hole in the outside wall from 1776. It is called the "Bullet Hole House" and is a popular tourist stop. You are now the mobile version of that. We a super glad that no one got hurt.

We still have a cannonball stuck in the corner of the county courthouse in Lexington, Missouri from the Civil War. Glad your hole wasn't so big.

Add to RV checklist "Check for bulletholes."

You said your 3400 RL was loaded, must have been.
I work in the firearms industry, things like this is all we need. There are far too many people who would take away our second amendment rights. We just don't need this type of reckless use of firearms. I,m fortunate enough to deal with some of the finest people an the country, and the world. Please those of you that don't use firearms don,t think that all the people that own guns are like that. You would not believe what nice people I deal with every day. On a typical day I will send out 10 or more packages. I put a invoice in the box and send the package. Every body pays. They don't haft to pay, but they all do. Where else could you find an honest bunch of people?

I was driving on I 35 a few years ago when I heard a loud thump and looked back and realized a big orange pumpkin had just splatted on the roof of my car. There was a railroad bridge that these thugs were on dropping pumpkins on the cars driving 65 mph down the Interstate. I exited the freeway and found the bridge and ran down the tracks and there were three small teens that looked at me like they had just seen a ghost. I asked them which one was going with me to the police station just a few blocks away and I grabbed the little jerk and hauled him in.I never heard what happened to them but I do know people have been killed when things have been dropped from overpasses. I guess we were both lucky like you were .

So, you weren't in Corpus Christi by any chance? JK
