Apartment washer and dryers

Has anyone tried the compact washer and dryers advertised for apartments?. Haier has a washer that was ranked number one on Top Ten Reviews and it's only 68 pounds. It sounds really good but I'd love to know someone has tried one before I buy it!

Thank you!

If you are looking at the combo model HLP23E, realize that it is about 1.5 cu.ft. For comparison purposes, our Splendide Dryer is 4 cu.ft and the washer is slightly smaller. I will say that we are on our second set of Splendid stackables (first set was seven years old and still working perfectly, but we had a new set installed in the new rig for extended service plan reasons)and have never had a problem at all with the Splendides. When we are camping, they are used daily. The smaller capacity would not work for us, but may for you. Have no opinion on the Haier, but I will say that we love our Splendides! If you are looking at the larger Haiers, make sure the dimensions will work where you are planning the installation.

We are on our 4th Splendede. Flawless customer service, and a excellent product.

It wasn't a combo. I have room for a separate washer and dryer in our 3725 so I wanted more capacity. Bingo, you're saying the Splendide has more capacity?. Back to more research. Thought I found a better deal...... Plus if I can get my laundry done in half the time - more time to play....

We have had Splendide Ariston Stackable Washer/Dryer for 8 years. No problems to date.

From what I have seen, even the Haier separate washer and dryer set is rated at about 1 1/2 cu ft and 8 pound load. It is also an inch and a half wider than the Spendide which is rated at about 15 pounds of laundry (dry) if I recall correctly. Another consideration is these machines will be subjected to the road conditions that an apartment type machine does not usually see. Make sure you have the width necessary whatever you choose. I remember on our 3400, the Splendide fix exactly with an allowance for a right angle plug. A 25" width washer would not have fit.

Wouldn't the dryer be powered by 240 Volts?

The Splendide dryer is 120 volts as are most of the apartment style dryers. Accordingly, the drying time is substantially longer

We also are on our second set of Splendide washer/dryers. The first one was a combination model in our 3400RL. Worked great but small. The separate units in our 3725RL have worked good for over 2 years of full time use. There is even room over the top for wire shelving in the 3725RL application.

When we talked to our RV dealer, Tiara, about them installing a stack-able W/D, they suggested the Whirlpool stackable that is apartment size. It fit perfectly in the front closet in the 3402RL. The advantage is that any Whirlpool repairman can fix it. Both pieces are 120V only.

We're in the Splendide fan club. Ours sits idle all winter since our employer provides a washer and dryer, but it works perfectly again when late spring comes and we start using it again. The first year we had it we did have a problem, but Splendide customer service is excellent. We'll be staying with Splendide in the future.
