New to me 2007 Montana 2955RL

We are retired folks in the KCMO area and owned a 21' Fun Finder but got to thinking about full timing. Our close quarters in the FF made us start looking for a 5er and we found a 05 Larado and a 07 Montana on the net at Mid American RV in Carthage, MO that looked good. Took the FF down and got a decent tradein value and junped on the Montana after the BOSS went inside and passed approval. Brought it home 2 days ago. Now if we could just get a decent price for our brick and morter abode we would be off and running.

First of all, welcome to a great forum! This is certainly the best place to be to learn and share issues you may have with your Montana. Congratulations on your purchase! Wish you the best of times in your travels.

Bill-N-Donna said it best about this forum. So many people sharing common issues and resolutions. Several KC area members on this forum. Good place to live but unfortunately, like a lot of the country, tough place to sell a house right now. Jim

Just a word of caution about the 2955 (had one until we went SOB), those rear steps hang down a long way, so be very watchful of dips entering places off the highway. We bent ours up several times and had to pull them completely off to hammer them back into operating condition. We wintered in ours last winter, but decided we wanted more room, so we upgraded to a 40 monster. Have fun and enjoy.

Congratulations on you purchase and finding this forum. Great people here, lots of experience and everyone ready and willing to help. We just got ours sold this spring so we know how you feel. Hang in and stay with it, nothing like the fun of full timing.

I traveled extensively in a 2955RL for seven years and never, no not even once, drug the steps on the ground or a curb. I suspect it was a combination of towing with a 2WD truck and a slightly nose low towing angle which kept me out of trouble. The lower the nose, the higher the steps are off the ground.

Thanks for all the welcome messages. I really appreciate the forums I have joined (computer, server, Fun Finder, etc.) and always learn a lot and have many questions answered. This forum looks like a great place for info, I was up until 2 AM this morning after joining, surfing this site. Thanks again and maybe we will meet on the road.

Welcome. As you can see from my signature we have a 2955 also. We love it. I've never hit my steps either in over 10,000 miles.

Our is one year older, a 2006 2955. I just replaced my steps a week ago with a two step unit instead of three. They only hang down about 8" instead of 15". Last winter when we went south for the first time. The steps drug a few times. I do have a 4x4 one ton truck so the front probably sits higher than with a two wheel drive 3/4 ton. Overall, we really like the the 2955. I have replaced both TVs with flat screens and built an extension for the counter that can easily be put up or removed to give more food prep area. We added the Splendide washer drier combo (which made the Mrs. very happy)I also added a dual receiver hitch on the back to carry a 200cc motorcycle. But the 2955 seems the be the perfect size for our current mission. You should enjoy it.
