Hello all, we are Steve and Yvonne, we live in Ontario near Peterborough.

We just purchased a 2001 2880 RL and are towing with a 1996 Chev 1500 with 6.5 turbo diesel.

I had to get a leaf added in the rear of the truck, just spent the first weekend away and everything went well.

Heard lots of great things about Montana, so we decided to join the group.

Any tips on our model or truck? This is our second 5th wheel, had a Mallard before, no comparison!!

see ya - Steve.

steve...any problems towing with that truck? I'm not sure what your towing rating is with that year, but it sounded a little light...

Welcome Steve and Yvonne and gord and liz to the MOC family.

And Steve, I gotta go with BillyRay a 1500 seems a bit under rated for a Monty. Even with the additional leaf do you have sufficient brakes to stop quickly enough in an emergency?

Welcome to the forum. I tried towing with a 1500 once & had trouble stopping it. So be careful.

Welcome Steve and Yvonne... this is a GREAT place to get info on all aspects of pulling, camping and anything else about a Montana. Myrna (she has been visiting MOC since before we ever bought our '04 3400RL Montana, pulling with an '02 F350 7.3 DPS crew cab long box)and I have been fulltiming since we sold our house in May '05. We love it!! Her dad was born in Peterborough and she was born and raised in New Westminster, B.C.; small world, eh?
