Screws in Slide Topper Fabric

Still looking over our new 2018 HC362RD and all of our slide toppers have one screw in where the toppers slide in the rails on the FW. Maybe to hold them from moving side to side? But the screws are right up against the fabric and almost a small tear. Maybe you can see it in the pics. Why thru the fabric, and not the end? Anyone ever looked at theirs? It doesn’t look like it would last like this?

That is not a proper install from the pic. The screw should be on top through the metal rail and into the rod that slides into the metal. Your fabric will tear. I would insist on a 100% replacement of the fabric. Google the install instructions and I bet you will find the proper method.

That is one the worst install i have seen on ant 5er I would take it back ASAP I have installed toppers on 4 of my 5er I don't screws in the the track I pinch down the ends!
Wear they put the screws just put a nother hole in the slide out and I don't see any sealer. And it will tear the crap out of the fabric I can see wear it is pushing down on the fabric already.

Between you and me. I installed my toppers as close to the directions as I could.
I would pull the ends taught like the instructions, install a new screw to hold the tension, remove the incorrect installation screw, daub some black silicone into the old hole and be happy.
Then again you could make a big stink and take it to the dealer/service center leave it for a few weeks and get it back with some kind of remedy.

Do it yourself, go camping, be happy.
