Real length?

Our plans for purchasing a new Monte are on hold for at least a few months. But I am planning a new shop/garage/storage building for the Monte, my truck, and shop area. I am trying to decide just how deep the new buildig should be.

I want the building long enough to handle a larger model, but no longer than is really necessary as it will already be pretty large building. Planning on a raised center aisle clear span "horse barn" type building with the Monte in the high center, truck on one side, shop area on the other, storage behind both truck and shop areas.

The current Monte is only listed at 34'-8". But looking at new ones in the 39' range. But if the web site list a length as 39'-1" from the center of the pin to the back of the rear bumper, just how much longer is it really from the frontmost edge of the pin box to rearmost edge? And that is assuming the pin box extends forward of the nose cap and ladder extends back of the rear bumper.

Anyone actually measured theirs and compared to the listed lengths? Actual model is still undecided and extra lengths may vary among models, but would like to get an idea of just how much to allow.

Don't most pole building builders go on a 4 foot or 8 foot span to keep the trusses equal? So if that is the case you are probably going to end up with a 44 or 48 foot long building. Which would cover your unit nicely.

Depending on front and rear cap design many RVs will be approx a foot and a half longer than brochure specs, but only way to know for sure is with the tape measure.

Tape measure is safe bet.
Be sure to leave room to walk around front and rear, if this is stored in middle of barn you will need to get around it.
I built a garage 60'deep exterior dimensions.
Hooked up to truck, I still can get around. It's nice to have hooked up and ready to go.

We're 39.5 without the bike rack. Height is another thing to consider. We're taller than listed without us doing anything. We're actually measure 13'2" so if you ever want to do any work on the roof in there the height of the ceiling will be important. We have a Maxi Cab truck so when the whole thing is hooked together along with the bike rack we're just a little over 57' long.

Make it 80' By 100' You can never have a building too big. LOL. Actually a pole building is measured on the outside walls so the inside measurements will be smaller with the diameter of the poles the width of the metal siding and the 2x4 stringers that the siding attaches to taking up the inside space.

I put up a 72'X 50' pole barn out at the farm to store the Monte and some of our smaller equipment like a compact tractor, mowers and numerous other items. I also have a small shop on one side. I could actually put 4 Monte's in it but that would be without any of the equipment in there. I have 16' walls and the ceiling is the same height and a 14'X14' door on each end for easy in and out. It is insulated and has a concrete floor. We currently store two Monte's(ours and a friends) there and still have plenty of room. We have a 3582RK and it is in the books as 39'1" but actually measures about 40'2" from the tip of the hitch back to the ladder on the rear of the Monte. The "horse barn" style for a building is a good idea but be sure you make the center isle wide enough to be able to open your slides and high enough to be able to get up on top of the unit incase you want to do any work up there. Good luck and post some pictures of the new building when you get it up.

The specs say our 3610 is 37'11" but we just measured from the leading front tip(which is further out than the pin box) to the very back edge of the ladder and it is 40'6". So that is 2'7" longer than what is stated in the specs. I agree a 44' is probably the least you need.

My building is 18 X 42 for my 36 foot camper. It's a pull through.

So it looks like the total length can be anywhere from one foot to more than two and half feet longer than the specs. I guess 44' it will be to be safe.

Looking to do a raised center aisle building similar to link except with regular insulated garage type doors, 14' high in the center and probably 8' high on each side. I am on an acre but not enough room to do a pull thru, so back in it will be.

You might won't to put a dump station in while the county isn't looking. I buried a 55 gallon drum about 2 feet under ground standing up with a 4 inch hole in the top and a one out the side about 2/3 the way up. Run a pipe out the side and get about 20 feet of fill line plastic liners. Put a 4 inch pipe out the top with a screw in cap. It's cheep and works.

We are 40 feet from the front cap to the rear ladder. My barn is 44 feet deep O.D. Make sure you can put a 14 foot door in for the trailer.

I would love to do such a simple installation. I am inside the city limits of a very small town of about 500. And they require inspections of steps of construction. And to compound the problem, when they installed our septic tank for the house years ago, they had a very difficult time digging it as very solid rock begins about a foot below ground. Hard to even get a fence post down. Still debating whether to put in a small restroom as it would be nice to have running water there. But that would require another septic system as I could not tie onto the other one. But costs?????

That is why I want the raised center aisle barn. High enough for a 14' door and space above the trailer, but lower sides so not so much interior volumn. Plus I like the looks.

Yes it's kinda hard to run drain lines in solid rock. They require inspections here to but what they don't know they can't tax you for and it's a lot they don't know about.

On our 14 Big Sky 3900 FB, the specs say 39'7". From the front of the nose to the end of the latter is 42'2", measured with my tape.
