Drove from WV. to Oregon last week and lost a Marathon in MO. and one in NV. They will all be gone this next week. Heat and light weight tire for the weight was the problem. They both separated and one came apart. I watched the other deflate at the pump at Flying J. Unbelievable that these tires are even put on these trailers. But that has been said here many times. No damage so I was thankful for that. Also I was very happy to watch the other one go down at the pump rather than at 60 with chunks flying. Wow never thought I"d say glad to watch a tire go down...

More than two years on the G614's now with no tire problems. With the Marathons, the Missions, and the Freestars we couldn't go six months without a failure and sometimes two or three failures in that time period.

After having my first Marathon blowout, the repair estimate was $2500. Goodyear is covering the expense. And after I asked about the remaining Marathons, Goodyear is prorating them towards the purchase of five new G614's. I had to buy the newer style of wheels that will support the 110psi, but at $65 each, it was money well spent.

As of this weekend, I have the new wheels and tires installed. Obviously, I'm not happy that this happened. But Goodyear handled it in a very acceptable manner.

Well after getting home from WV. after two Marathon blowouts I bought five G614s and had them put on. I then towed to Phoenix from Salem OR. and I actually relaxed about the tires on the trailer. The G614 are a real Beefy tire. I am running 90lbs in them and as soon as I can weigh it I will adjust accordingly.
Thank you for all the info you guys shared it made the tire choice a lot easier.

The heavier tires won't add to the axle weight of the trailer or to the pin weight, but do add to the trailer part of the GCVWR: more weight to stop.
We did as many here: lost a tire (non-catastrophic, thank our lucky stars) and replaced the tires and the rims with help from Tredit. And as others have said, I can finally relax.
Very good point about over-inflating causing less tire surface on the road. Thanks for pointing that out.
We put Michelins on the TV. What a difference in handling and ride.
A TPMS is next.
