Ferry ride from Tsawwassen to Duke Point Canada

Hey, has anyone taken the ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point Vancouver Island in Canada? They say to take that ferry, you can not be more than 60 minutes early to the entry point or lose your reservation and be put on standby, and if you are there less than 30 minutes before your departure time, you lose your reservation? So how do you show up at the right time having to go thru customs etc. before this? We were thinking of finding an outdoor mall, and cruising around the parking lot until we headed for the actual ferry terminal? Anyone else have experience with these ridiculous rules?

You do not lose your reservation if you try to check in more than 1 hour before sailing but they might not have room for you that early because there are constant sailings to different destinations.
You don't have any customs to go through because you are travelling within Canada.
There is a very large mall close to the ferry terminal if you you arrive to early.

Nice campground. We've been there a few times and like it. The reason I asked where you were going was to make sure you were taking the right ferry.
Enjoy your stay on Vancouver Island.

I have a really dumb question. Just thought about when we travel all over the world and need special adapters for our electrical items. Are the 30 & 50 amp plug ins at the RV park terminals the same as in the US ? :-)

Yes your electrical connections are the same, the only differences are your speeds are in kilometres per hour and distances are kilometres , Canada is metric, fill up your fuel tanks in US before crossing border as fuel is very expensive it make California fuel prices seem like a bargain.

Thanks, George, I knew about the mph vs. kph. I also have a 55 gallon Titan tank where the OEM tank used to sit, so I will definitely fill up in the US before we venture into Canada. Thanks for the info on the RV connections.

OK, forget private messaging, apparently it is not working? Lenny, I told you we would be at Living Forest Oceanside RV park and thought maybe you and your wife, and another Montana 5ver couple living in Victoria could meet us for dinner somewhere on the 16th, 17th, or 18th of this month? If not, if you have recommendations for great places to have dinner, let us know! Thanks

Unfortunately those dates won't work for us as we taking of our grandson and their dog on those dates. We are thinking about going to Living Forest campground on the 20th. Are you still going to be on the Island?
Don't know of any great restaurants in Nanaimo as we live a couple of hours from there.
