water heater making noise
We cae home last night & our H2O heater was making a noise that sounds like it is low on water & sizzling. When I turn off the breaker it stops making the noise. Is it in need of a new heatng element? Thanks for your input. Dave

Have you cleaned out the water heater with a good flush using one of those water heater cleaning wands? I know a build up in the water heater will cause what you describe sometimes. It is surprising how much build up happens in a short time.

Yeah, like jolu said. Since I am full time, I do that about every 6 months as a regular preventive maintenance protocol.

Sorry about the Caps on the word just in my reply did'n mean em. I flushed the tank again & there was hardly anything came out.It still makes the noise. Although my anode bar had a build up of some mineral or another & no erosion of any sort. When I changed it in Jan (after a year) it showed hardly any wear (eating away) then either. I thought they were supposed to wear out. Anyway with the breaker on I had 125 volts thru the element with it off I had continuancy thru it. I thought that meant the element is OK. Thanks for helping me out. The local RV supply has a new element That I can go get If youall think that is the problem. Thanks again..... Dave
