Overnight stop

Going north up Hy 5 from California to Oregon next week. Is there any place in Red Bluff that will let you park overnight like Walmart, Sams Club, Lowe's or anyone else?

I belong to overnight RV parking and according to them the Walmart there allows overnights as well as the Flying J and rest areas on both sides of town.

Hey Frank: it is about 400 miles from Sacramento to Seven Feathers. That is a long drive for me usually. But given the heat in the valley and Red Bluff doesn't cool off at night, I would make the drive in one shot or stay somewhere with electricity (not Wal-Mart). The Rolling Hills Casino in Corning has a RV park (nothing fancy) with 50 Amp power at a reasonable rate. There are a couple of parks outside Red Bluff (JGW and Durango) that others have used as overnight stops.

This time of year I tough it out and make the drive in one day. We leave at 8:00 AM, stop for lunch and fuel in Weed around 1:00, and roll into 7F around 3:30 PM.

We will be heading north at the same time. It is 404 miles from Ukiah to seven feathers and going to drive straight thru leaving at 8 am.

This time of year you will probably need both air conditioners in that area. JGW in Redding is a great park, as is Durango in Redding. Go an additional 70 miles and stay at Friendly RV in Weed, although it is not as nice a park as the two previously mentioned parks. There is a new Camping World about 5 minutes from JGW if you need to pick up supplies. Personally, I try not to pull the mountain passes going into Oregon in the afternoon due to the heat.

I highly recommend "Mt Gate RV Park" just four exits North of Redding. Great place, nice on site owners, secure, level concrete sites. It is near Shasta Lake and right off freeway, easy on and off. Take Mt Gate Exit. Tell them "Mike and Sue Arnold sent you"! They have nice Pool and Spa , Dog area, shade trees and pull throughs! It's hot up here already and Red Bluff is even hotter. I know and have visited JGW and Durango. Both excellent parks, but Redding is so close, Mt Gates in my opinion is better affordable, safe option! I know the Anderson and Redding Wall Marts have City regulations against parking. Red Bluffs Wall Mart is not very large and not that RV friendly. Not sure the rules regarding parking!
