Refrigerator and Propane

Refrigerator would not work on propane since last spring and nothing I done worked. I did not want to take the RV to a dealer and lt be there for the long time it takes them to find and fix it. By a stroke of luck a friend told me about a guy that lives about 3 miles from me started a mobile RV repair service. I called him last Friday pm and he stopped by this morning and in less than 1 hour he had the propane working. He took the covers off the burner and found mud dobbers nest. Cleaned everthing, put it all back togather and run and switched the controls several times to be sure it was ok. Unit running and it only cost me $50. That is the best deal I have had in months.

Mud dobbers and spider webs in the burner has been a common problem discussed on this forum. For $50 you got a great deal on a solution. Love happy endings. Jim

That's the reason we glued screen wire over our refrigerator vents.

I put screen on all the vents around the same time the propane stopped working but did not use it then. Could not see the mudd dobbers then.

Checking for obstructions as you found should be part of your regular maintenance program. Another potential problem if you ever have another failure is the voltage to the igniter. If the unit doesn't sense enough voltage to cause the spark that lights the propane it won't fire and won't allow the propane to flow.

I watched the RV Tech take the burner covers off, it is not a 5 min check for sure. After watching him I now know the best way to do the check.
