Wet bolt Lube

Had the wet bolt kit installed last summer and was told to lube once a year. Doing a short trip to the Snake River for a summer shake down and started the lube process. Was surprised at the amount of lube required and no old lube came out but new. One zerk fitting I could not get lube in. Seem to remember someone saying to jack the axle and try ideas? All other zerk fittings took grease. Thanks, Bob

Yes, dependent on location of grease passage in the "wet" bolt, bushing might have trailer weight loading on that spot, jacking should relieve that loading so you can pump in grease...

Just as an FYI, the installation instructions that came with my wet bolt kit recommend lubrication every 3000 miles. Might be a bit of overkill, but that's what it says.

No luck from jacking, surprised after one year. We did 3500 miles last year, definitely will lube more often, especially since no old grease came out. Not sure if I can take the bolt off where the zerk fitting is, if not off to service.

Bob,
Here is a link to the install instructions for the wet-bolt kit which may help you out: Wet Bolt Install. If you still can't get the bolt to accept grease you can call Mor-ryde and they should be able to assist you. I seem to recall a while back that someone had installed the kit and one of the grease holes on one or two of the bolts wasn't drilled all the way through or something like that. You might also want to ask them about the lubrication interval. I didn't see it listed in this set of instructions.

Could be something as simple as a defective zerk. Might try changing it before removing the entire bolt.

Agree with all comments above, if those fail, unload the weight to that bolt and pull it to confirm if the grease passage is as described incomplete.

Thanks All, my brother has a Mobile Suite and he could not get grease in one fitting. He spun the bolt using an impact driver then it took grease. I tried this and no luck. Dealer said may need an electric grease gun, thinking the bolt hole was not put on the bottom, per instructions or it was not drilled out properly. Hopefully the dealer will give me a break on fixing this as it was just done last year. Any Bets??

If it is a problem with the bolt and the dealer won't give you a break on fixing it, call Mor-ryde Customer Service. They have been pretty good in the past with tech advice and bet they would step up to cover your costs. Just a thought and keep us posted.

Well I made the problem harder than it was, I did not follow the KIss principle, it was the zerk fitting. Two trips to Napa they did not have the right size, I shot WD40 in the zerk fitting, let it set, put it back on and it lubed with no problem, definitely recommend finding the right size zerk and keeping a box on hand. Many thanks for all the help.

After having a wet bolt kit instsalled I was unable to get grease to flow into the bushings. Even with the chassis jacked up to remove the pressure on the bolts it was a real struggle to get the grease to flow. It is a shame that the product is so poorly designed that it takes so much effort to lube the bolts! I would recommend enlarging the passages BEFORE installation. Hopefully as the bushings wear a bit it will allow easier passage of the grease.
