mice problem

I did a search but couldn't find the answer. This might be a stupid question but here goes. I am in storage now and found some droppings, when I pullout of storage will the movement make them leave or will I be dealing with this all year. Thanks

A couple of years ago we had a mouse in our unit for a couple of months before we finally caught him. Now I leave those sticky pads under the drawers in the kitchen all the time. I did find another one in a trap a month ago and was surprised that there was no smell. They work pretty good with some peanut butter in the middle. And the movement will not make them leave. Good luck.

If your rig is stored in an area that has a lot of mice you might want to try and seal as many entry points as possible. In the mean time use the traps and check on them as often as you can. My biggest concern is that they will chew on the wiring.

You can leave it but it might stink after awhile. I just throw mine away and get a new one. You probably don't want the DW finding the trap with a dead critter in it.

We were working at Picacho Peak until the 4 th of March. There were thousands of them. We tried everything. It took Three weeks and We caught six and the rest must have left, after we got to our new site about thirty miles from there. We just cleaned under the drawers, and under the sink and couch and chairs. We think we got it all, we will keep an eye on things and see if they are truely gone. This is the first time in three years so its all good.

When I went out to start the spring cleaning of our rig this afternoon, I discovered signs of mice (no need for too much information, right?). So, I put out 3 traps baited with peanut butter around 5:00 PM and by 7:00 PM I'd caught 3 mice. I rebaited the traps and put them back and will check them before I go to work in the morning. We had no signs of mice two weeks ago, so I suspect they've just moved in for some reason.

We've plugged as many holes as possible, but we live in sagebrush and prairie grass country, and keeping critters out of things is an impossible task. Our cat does a good job of catching mice, and I am thinking about putting him in the trailer tomorrow for an hour or so to see if he can find any that might be hiding.

As long as you're catching mice in the traps and/or seeing signs of mouse activity, continue to rebait with fresh peanut better and keep the traps set in your rig. One hint you might consider is to put each trap in an empty cereal box or soft drink carton or something similar. Mice like to crawl into dark places for one thing, and for another, if you catch a mouse by the leg, having the trap in a box may save your carpet or other flooring; mice will chew everything in the area if they're just partially caught and can't escape the trap. I had a trap set in the garage, and the trap disappeared, so I knew a mouse had dragged it off somewhere. Sure enough, he'd dragged it under the workbench and near the corner of a piece of carpet I had down by that bench. Before he died, he ate a nice-sized hole through the carpet.

Cinderella's mice are cute; trailer mice are not.

Traps and glue boards are good, I have them, and packs of bait for them, one died in the house basement, stunk for a week bad down there, we just couldn't find it. Just now the smell is going away, wish I had not used the bait.

This may sound far fetched but we had mice in TX this winter until we tried something a Lady in the park from Denmark told us to try. Put little bowls of whole cloves under cabinets and under belly. Mice disappeared. Who would have thought?????

Carolyn
Mickey is cute too!

......However, Mickey's trailer trash, meth-addict cousin is not so cute.

These are the sort of mice that I find in the traps that I put in my trailer.

Maybe I am "Profiling" here, but the proof is in the pictures!

Just pull up to a Chineese Restaurant. Go in and explain your issue. Let the staff in your rig. Your problem will be solved and it will help keep their prices down.

Normally you won't see the nests! They like to hide them in the walls and ceiling! We have ours down on the Platte River bottom land(unless it decides to flood in the spring) and we use the drier sheets all over the Monte, including in the basement and propane compartments. I also went to Tractor Supply and bought some packets that the farmers use in the cabs of their equipment and scatter several of them around also. They are totally herbal and don't cause any problems. When I set the unit up for it's rest for the winter, I also scatter some mothballs around the wheels and front landing gear on the ground. I have put glue traps in the unit (both basement and in under cabinets and etc but have never caught anything so the other items must be keeping them away! I'll have to try the clove trick-- I don't like the smell of cloves either! LOL I've also heard of putting peppermint oil on cotton balls and putting them up in the ceiling and other places to keep them out but don't know how that works!
