I hate to drag the heavy 50 amp cord out. So I am looking into this 25ft 50-30 amp adapter cable. I think it would be a lot lighter than the 50 amp I now use. And the price is right. Here is a link to the web site. http://www.tweetys.com/rvyadaptor-25foot50to30amp.aspx
I bought the same cord because I only have 30A connectors where I store my trailer. I was going to buy an adapter to use the big ol' snake but this power cords was only a few bucks more so I just use that now. This way if I don't need the big cord I can use the 30A at the campground and not have to wrestle the OEM cord. I was in Walmart and found a nice oval black laundry basket that is great for keeping the two cords in. The oval shape makes it somewhat easier to roll up the 50A cord.

We do have a 30 amp cord and the 50 to 30 amp adapter to use on those now rare occasions when we can not get 50 amps. We have 50 amp service at home. Everyone to there own choices of course but I do not understand why when we purchased a camper with two 50 amp legs available we would not use that capability. Could have saved money by purchasing a lessor camper with 30 amp only service.. Last week here in Florida it was very hot and humid and we had both A/C's going plus Helen was doing laundry, the Fridge was on AC and other normal things were in use. We were drawing (PT 50C) 23 amps on one leg 1 and 11 on leg two. Yes the little wheel on the meter was was a blur but we were living as normal. 50 amp service is a good thing...

When 50 amps is available I use it.When it's hot I run two air-conditioners and if it gets cold I can plug in the electric heaters.I go from very cold to very warm and I don't have to worry about not having enough power.

I have that same cable and use it when camping in cooler areas. But when camping in the heat, running the AC, microwave, washer/dryer, etc, I have popped the 30 amp breaker more than once. So I use the heavy 50 in those cases (if 50 amp service is available).

I like my 50 amp cable. I like it so much that I have been known to carry it from the rig to the garage before the rig goes into storage, then I get energetic and carry it back to the rig when we are readying for the next trip. I have always used the 50 amp cable since DW insists on running the washer and the dryer non-stop no matter where we are at. The light-weight, wimpy yellow 30-amp cable is always relegated to generator duty only and occasionally for a 20 amp hookup at the stick house. I know this has nothing to do with Phil's original question, but I felt I simply had to come to the defense of the Anaconda!!!!

Hey Everyone, I would love to use the 50 amper all the time. Someone needs to tell all the parks that also, but the real truth, as you know, is that there are still a lot of camps that only offer 30 amps. I'm just getting tired of wrestling with the black anaconda early in the mornings when I'm getting ready to leave, hence my original question about a more flexible cord. If I have to live with the anaconda I will, since we all have to be "flexible" in our travels then why can't that darn cord be more flexible??? BTW, I also carry a 30 amper for those times when I only have 30 amp service. I did find a Yellow 50 amper with the proper connectors on each end but at $330.00 I will continue wrestling a little longer, Maybe someday, Santa will hear my pleas..........!!!!!

If it has Carol's diamond studs and it is louvered, it just might be worth the money, you know, there are other ways to waste your money. Tough decisons for an ol' retired guy.

Sighhhhhhhhh, winter must be around the corner, Robbie is stirring the pot again. Who would of thought that an Anaconda cord thread would somehow contain subliminal messages about diamond-studded louvered tailgates! Wonder what is next?? Phil, I hold you responsible for this!!!! HA!!!

Bingo, I didn't punch that doggie. Me thinks Robbie has spent too much time in the Southwest and needs to go North for the winter to see what I am talking about. When my anaconda gets cold it is really stiff. Did I say that??? I would really like to have a soft, pliable anaconda so it would be easy to put it away....HA!!!!

We really only use the 50 amp cord when we are long term camping in the winter down south. The rest of the time we usually only have 30 amp available and I use a 30 amp yellow Marinco cord that I bought a long time ago at CW. If I were going to use the 50 amp more often, I would spend the $ and get a Marinco 50 amp cord. They are quite expensive ($200+), but I think that would be worth while if we were using it more frequently than we do now.

I've carried a few different adapters and only one 50 amp cord. Here is the Marinco adapter that I have, plus I have a 50 to 15 amp and a couple others I have forgotten about. As a matter of fact, I can make a deal for someone looking to plug 50 amp into the RV with a 15 amp mail pig tail. Looks like THIS

Now Phil, there is one more alternative. Doesn't your back hurt? Cathy could pick up the chore of unwinding and winding up the anaconda. (It'd give her practice! ooppps!)

Wayne, She already operates the jacks, levels the trailer, disconnects the truck and adjusts the JT's. Oh she sets the chocks also and lowers the rear jacks and raises the tailgate (no diamonds, no louvers). Not sure I could put anymore on her, but at your insistence, I will try. Sounds like a great idea to me. OH MY POOR BACK!!!!!

Robbie, I think these guys are goading me into something here. And all I want is a soft, pliable anaconda....

Phil, the 50 amp cord on our 05 was soft and easy to roll up. The one on the 07 is stiff as a board. Therefore I know there are different types. The one on the 05 was more like rubber. The 07 is more of a plastic feel.

Are these yellow 50 amp cords more flexible than the black ones? Says they are "super flexible".
They sure are proud of them based on the price!

Based on my experience with the 30 amp version, YES! They seem expensive at first, but consider that you will have it for as long as you continue to RV, even if you change units down the road. I never regreted buying my 30 amp Marinco, (I've had it for about 10 years now) and I would buy the 50 amp, if I used it more. This is a case where paying for a quality product does pay off in the long term. (my opinion anyway).

Come on Phil. Get rid of the shorts and put on pants!!

I think the "yellow" cords are Marine Grade. Don't know why that would make them more pliable, but I have seen them in boating supply stores. The black ones are in hardware/rv supply stores.

It appears that CW has the yellow 50 amp cord on sale for $100 off, $244 instead of $344. Only 25 ft though, I have seen another that is 35ft long.

Phil..The answer is..stay in warmer weather to keep the cord pliable. We do have a 30 amp cord, in fact two of them. Going to a lot of rallies we stay at many fair grounds that do not have 50 amp hook ups. We also have a 25 foot extension to the 50 amp cord. You gotta be ready for everything......on the road...

Phil-- After reading the list of what Cathy does when you set up-- My question is "What do you do while Cathy is doing all of this?"
