Tip of the day by Wingnut0946

Good morning everyone! Sorry I've been scarce the last couple of days, my cat chewed the power cord to my computer the other night, it took me a couple of days to get around to respliceing the remenants back together.
Todays tip is rather short and simple, it doesn't make anything run better or longer, it just improves the looks and eliminates something that gets to be bothersome. I am sure that everyone is familliar with the black drain hose that pokes out from the compartment behind the fridge. Yeah, that ugly thing. Well, if you trim it back to where it's just barely hanging down below the level of the top of the compartment, and use either a mountable hose clamp or a mountable zip tie, you can mount it right at the top of the compartment to where it will drain out the top of the vent in the door! Easy as that, and simple too!

Fortunately my cat chewed the wire on the side of the power supply that DOESN'T fry kitty-cats, but if you have a toasted tabby you need to dispose of try animal control and then maybe a good carpet-cleaning company??

As for repairing the cord, all you do is find which wire matches to which (red to red, black to black, etc...), strip them back to bare wire, twist them together really good, and wrap each one together with lots and lots of electrical tape, keeping in mind not to let the copper strands of one wire (for instance red) come in contact with the copper strands of another wire (black), when this happens you get a situation called a "short" which can make a very FOUL smelling smoke, on top of possibly ruining your electronic device.

The most important thing to remember when doing ANY kind of work that can involve electricity-- ALWAYS UNPLUG the device you are working on before you start any kind of work.
