Black Water Tank?

Our RV registers a reading of 1/3 full after draining & flushing the tank. How do you completely drain the tank?

This is an ongoing problem. The sensors hardly ever work right. Do a search on black tank sensors and you will find different things people have tried to get them to work. Using lots of water will help some. You will get other help here.

I use the black tank flush every time I empty the tanks. I have found that this really helps keep the sensor clean and working properly. You can also try putting some ice in the tank before you head down the road that day. By having an empty tank with maybe 3 gallons of water and ice it will act as a scrubber as the ice slops around the tank. I have a problem with my galley sensor, never seems to read empty and have tried everything.

It most likely isn't the tank....it is the sensor. Do a search here for the details. Many(?) Most(?) of us don't even look at the sensor panel anymore.

Best,

Depending on how often you go out you could try the method we use. I like to use the flush king thing a few times before leaving the park. Then before leaving the park I will close the valve and fill the tank 1/4 full and add some calgon water softener to the black tank. Then drive it home (or to the next camp site). The following weekend we drive to the campground and upon arrival we dump out whatever has sloshed around for a few miles and it will read empty every time. We have also done the same thing only adding Ice instead of Calgon and it works great too. I think the main trick is to have something in the tank when you are driving around to agitate back and forth cleaning the sides.

It's really nothing to worry about. You'll have an idea when it's beginning to get full. When you flush, you'll get some bubble blowback. That's because there is less room for air in the tank and the stuff you're flushing is pushing some air out. You'll have plenty of time to dump after you begin to notice this.
