Check out this web site. http://campgroundreviews.com/regions/Was...oldendale.html These parks are in the area you are looking for, just over the border in Washington. If you will be staying in Bend,OR the Crown Villa RV Park is very nice, but alittle pricey. If staying at Crown Villa coming in from the south DO NOT follow GPS, it will take you down a road that has a overcrossing with too low clearance. Just go up to Murphy Rd off Hwy 97, turn right and follow the road, can not miss the park.

I use "Trailer Life Directory" first to see what campgrounds are in the area and the name of the town, then I go RVpark review to check it out.

We boondock at the John Day dam at Rufus, OR near the intersection of hwy 97 and I-84. There is a big truck stop up the road (west) a couple of miles. There is lots of space on the south side of the Columbia river.
