Light delays turning on

Our kitchen lights (2 fixtures 12V) don't light up immediately. When I turn the switch on, it sometimes takes 5 or more seconds before the lights come on. I think after they are on for a few seconds, the switch operates normally. I don't know if it is the switch or the bulbs? Since it is 2 fixtures, I would think it is in the switch somehow.
Suggestions?

We had that in our led lights for about a year and I figured I'd fix the switch when it finally broke. Then it quit doing it and has worked just fine for the next year.

Some LEDs don’t come on immediately. I have some in my shop that come on when we cut them on and some on the same circuit that takes a second or so.

I have had to change a couple of my 12v switches as they finally quit working. twindman, if you want to prove switch or bulb just remove the two wires from the switch and touch them together, if the light comes on instantly it is probably the switch. If it still has the delay it is probably what mlh is referring to.

I'll try jimcol's suggestion with the wires (sometime...). Have to get ambitious! I don't think my lights are LEDs tho. This is a 2013 model (and the cheapee mountaineer - lol) so don't think they had LED bulbs.
