I have done it both ways. Usually, when I've had to change a bad tire on the road, it is connected to the truck. If I have had to do one side or the other while parked, I just loosen the lug nuts on the wheel or wheels on the side needed. Then raise the side needed, and stop when the tires clear the ground. This does no harm to the system. You know, the two front jacks are linked, as are the center and rear on the left and also the same on the right. So, when the trailer is parked, and you raise one side or the other, the fluid moves from one side to the other between the two front jacks, putting no strain on either jack. This is the same thing that happens when you raise or lower the front with all the jacks down, the fluid moves between the two jacks on the left and also the same on the right. The system is set up like there are only three jacks, one in the front and one at the rear on either side, except as they are plumbed with two in each position, you gain the load capacity with smaller jacks doubled up. Hope this makes sense.

Like Bob says. I would not try it on very un level ground as you may upset the center of balance side to side..

Well, I contacted LCI, and they do list in the manual that they DO NOT recommend using the level up to raise the unit for maintenance...
I would have thought they were OK with it, I thought that system was designed to lift the whole weight of the coach, if it n fact MAY lift the tires off the ground during leveling.

I think it's a liability thing..If someone were to get squished using them for repairs the lawyers would have a free for all. Lippert says not to use the leveling system and not to jack on the framerails, the axle company says not to jack on the axle tubes...Nobody wants to step up.Me thinks good ol' common sense is the answer here.

Yes I've added the special oil to my growing maintenance to-do list which I hope to get done later this month at the dealer. Also, I will let everyone know if the popping comes back before then or any other relevant information on this topic.
Well the popping sound from the LCI system returned after a couple weeks from the time I retracted and extended the jacks making the irritating sound stop. When the sound returned it was not as loud or frequent as before but still irritating. Today the dealer performed the attached linked procedure (found on the Hearland owners forum....the link on another post in this forum resulted in a 404 Page not found error)using the Catepillar brand oil. I will post results after giving it a while to work. http://manuals.heartlandowners.org/m...%20Systems.pdf
