Now I LOVE Direct-TV

I had posted a few months ago about how bummed I was at Direct-TV. Asked for advise on how to try to finally squeeze new equipment out of them when we switched service to the new home in Florida.

I was all ready to follow Phil P's suggestion from Florida because it seemed like the easiest way to get the new install, along with new equipment.

At the last minute I decided to check the internet and their site eluded to the fact that there was some kind of wonderful "mover's package". So I just called and told them we were moving to Cape Coral and needed a new install. WOW! They are sending the tech out with a new generation Genie HD DVR and a new mini wireless Genie! All free!

I thought while I had them on the phone and winning the Direct-TV lottery I would try for free NFL Ticket. That didn't work, but I was still happy with all the new equipment they are giving us!

It's what they should have done all along. Glad it finally worked for you.

Isn't it funny how they don't want to help their current customers out as much as trying to give great deals to new customers. Why do you have to move or threaten to get another service provider to get the new equipment? Usually have to pay a month in advance and even then they always want to nickel and dime you to death. Glad it all worked out for you. My wife wants to know why we are always a generation or two behind the newest equipment.

Glad things worked out for you with DirecTV.
My experience was the exact opposite. I seldom say NEVER but in this case I will NEVER do business with them again. They have put me in collections in an attempt to collect a disputed debt. Hell will freeze over before they get a single penny.

If you are a triple A member you can also get $10 off each month of your DTV bill for a year or 20 months.

Hi

I am glad you worked it out, however we will continue to close the account and open it new at a new address every year or so to keep the rates down.

And we may end up doing the exact same thing at some point in the future. Right now they required a 2 year contract for this new "movers special" package so we could get all the newest goodies. But at the end of 2 years if they aren't treating us right we will revisit your option.

I know what you mean but we were able to negotiate an 18 month contract with all the new equipment as a “New Customer” by using the address of one of the rental houses and a mailing address of a PO Box.

That way we only pay full boat for 6 months.
