They make a nozzle called tornado I think that I installed on our old camper. It rotates a nozzle under flow and gave me the impression it would do a good job cleaning the tank

Ok, so my brand new 3950BR has the plastic version which I assume has failed since no water seems to get past it. I'm not at all good with plumbing, so would you provide a complete parts list? Are those Shark Bite connectors?

Thanks,

KW

It could be installed backwards. You would not be the first person that has happened to. it only flows in one direction. its easy to remove and the check valve is spring loaded. very easy to test.

If it was installed backwards wouldn't water gush out when pressurized from the convenience center?

A question to the guys that removed valve completely do you connect the 2 lines together? What is this check valve on your hose that you speak of when flushing?

Yes you would connect the two pipes together. If you connect them, there is no need to connect them where that valve is. Simply find the two pipes that go up to it and connect them in the basement behind the convenience center. The valve for the hose that some are talking about is just like the screw on valve for you hose bib on your house.

Is this simply a one way check valve? Do I need this if I am not planning on power flushing my tanks?

If you are not going to ever use the black tank flush feature that you unit has, then you can disregard everything said here and pretend its not there. There will be no harm of any kind if it is never used.

There should be a flow direction arrow on the valve or at least I think there would be one right?

I suspect that the check spring is restricting flow enough to influence how much volume my 12 volt pump can put thru the line. For that reason I plan to remove the valve completely as soon as I trace out the line and find it.

In addition to that I am going to remove part of the pvc jumper line I installed and adding a hose that I can remove so the option to use city water to wash the black tank is available again. I bought the parts today to add a clear hose that I can see the water run thru and a quick coupling so it will be easy to screw it onto the port in the water supply compartment. The quick connect is a 1/2" with no check. Screwing the male part of the quick connect into the port is a lot easier than screwing on a hose fitting (it's just one of those little things). I want to be able to hook up as fast as possible when at a dump station so I don't hold up the line (just a respect thing for my fellow campers).....

Some people have reported that a check valve installed along with the antisiphon valve was installed incorrectly and preventing the water flow. Mine did not have that check valve. If the antisiphon valve were installed in reverse, water would spray out from under the top cover. The top of the valve is open to atmosphere to let water drain into the tank after flushing. Someone on here reported recently about theirs leaking and they found a stink bug(s) had crawled up under the cap and inside the valve and prevented the valve from seating correctly.

My antisiphon valve was installed in a wall between the shower and my entry closet behind the pocket door. There was an opening in the back of the closet, but in the wrong place. I had to cut a new opening. Here is a pic after I removed the antisiphon valve. You can see that the lines are winterized.

BB TX, I mentioned previously that there is no need to remove the valve and connect the pipes together in that tight space. Simply go under in the basement and find the two pipes going up and cut them off (abandoning the pipes and valve) remove them if you want. Then reroute and connect the pipes together in the basement.

7 yrs ago when mine failed there were not that many postings about them failing. So I planned to replace mine with another. Mine was made of clear plastic. I found the name on it and ordered another. Got it and on close inspection could see stress cracks all thru the clear plastic. Obvious why the original failed. Sent it back and connected the pipes together.

If there is anyone out there with a HC 381TH that knows where this valve is let me know please. I don't want to remove the underskirting in the wrong place if I can help it (what is the proper name for that stuff anyway?).

You should not have to remove any under skirting ?. Access the back of the black tank connection point by taking the panels off in the storage compartment. You can then follow that line and see where it goes up. If there are only two pipes that go up in the same place, then one is the incoming and one is the outgoing. Cut them both off in the basement and plumb them together.

1 Anti-siphon valve
1 90 degree elbow
2 Shark Bite fittings

Yes, you can see the arrow on the black, plastic valve.

I did exactly what "Beeje" did, and eliminate the ant-syphoning valve. Mine was between shower wall and pocket door. Had to take off shower controls which were near the bottom of shower and pull down hoses to cut out valve and extra lines. Tied the two lines together with 90 degree Shark bite fittings and no more leaking. My valve was also the cheap plastic. No other fittings added.

I believe it's called coreplastic or something like that.
