new 2014, 3625RE montana

hello to all, traded in our 2008 keystone Everest for a new 2014, 3625re. picked it up the end of December. took it home and covered it up. cant wait until the 2 feet of snow melt so I can get in there and get it ready for spring. could not check everything when I picked it up because it was 22 degrees , all I know is that the heat works great. the dealer had it on when we went to pick it up. also I am looking forward to talking to some of you on the forum.
have a happy and safe camping season.

Welcome to the forum. I hope gabby is a pet, and not someone born in Malta. Not sure how I'd take being called a "little fat".

I hate to bring this up after the fact, but the spec sheet on a 2013 m3265re is a GVWR of 16,000 lbs. I fear you may be undersized on your truck.

Please consider if the same engine and trans are used on larger, higher load/tow rated trucks it's not about the engine & trans but other components on the trucks where there are weaker points, and air bags do NOT improve ratings, they only improve the ride. This is only from someone who went through the ratings problem. Even my '06 "F350" couldn't tow that rig.

Welcome to the forum. Like Art, if your truck is indeed a half ton, I would be concerned. You'll love your rig. We full time in it's predecessor.

hello,
thank you for your post. I don't understand something. art , you are telling me I cant pull my rig, but I am looking at your signature and you are pulling with almost the same truck, I don't have a 1/2 ton, I have a 2500HD diesel. my trailer loaded is 14,500 lbs, and my truck is 7,600lbs, that's 22,100lbs. my book for my truck says 22,000 CC for truck and trailer. I am 100 lbs over.

I noticed this in the original post. I think that Joe typed "2007 1/2" as the MODEL YEAR of his pickup. Evidently he realized the cause of the misunderstanding because the post now shows "2007 (new body style).

Am I right Joe? and others?

no, joe1047 said he always posted he has 2500, not a 1/2 ton. DQDick may have been confused, not me. Thanks for modifying the post to prevent future confusion. I did understand the 2007 1/2 and as a mid year model of the GMC 2500 and not a half ton. While a 1/2 ton would be a worse case than the 3/4 ton he has, I'm not sure any single rear wheel truck meets the tow requirements of that trailer. I stand by my original post. No confusion here.

My signature does show that I have and pay for the VIN of a 3/4 Ford F-250, however, my modifications to my truck are not in my signature since it has caused so much confusion, that I have the F-350 spring set and the larger F-350 tires AND wheels to support the tow and cargo ratings of the larger F-350. When I shopped for a trailer, I went by the documentation, but what I found in real life was that when I weighed everything at the scales, my F-250 was deficient at the rear axle and also exceeded the current GVWR of an F-250 with my '06 Ford F-250 suspension hardware. But in my case, I was able to purchase and install the F-350 suspension hardware (overload spring and brackets) and purchased the larger wheels and tires that now supported the F-350 rear axle and GVWR so that I satisfied the current ratings necessary to tow my rig. I also know that the new ratings for my improved F-250 to F-350 numbers cannot carry any newer model Montana because their new weights average about a 2,000 lb increase and that's way over what I can do for my current truck.

In my state where I live, it is legal to improve your truck only using approved parts if you know what components are different for a comparable model of truck. Air bags AREN'T any part of the solution, but I have them and they improve the ride. In my case adding F-350 overload spring, brackets and wheels and tires to match the increased load ratings were performed. My ratings now match an F-350 with all other things equal as confirmed by Ford. As the final step, I DID NOT recertify my truck (obtain a new VIN) because it is optional and I didn't want to pay for it. For this I can only use the improved numbers for PERSONAL not COMMERCIAL or FOR HIRE use. So in my signature page, I have an F-250, but for towing my Montana, I have an F-350 which meets all weight ratings.

I'm just thinking since most GMs from that year had lesser ratings for comparable models of Fords and my truck had trouble, yours probably will as well. I am anticipating for a 16,000 lb trailer only a dually might work. It's not the diesel/trans as the weak points. Towing overweight is a personal choice and knowing being overweight can be problematic why push it. Others may declare they towed overweight just fine, but some don't even know it. I'm for that we should all know where we stand.

Yes, I did misunderstand. As you can see, I pull a heavy Monty with a 3/4 ton SRW that is rated for it. So on that basis I say enjoy your new rig and hope to meet you down the road.

But you do not specify the pin weight which is were most 3/4 ton trucks fall outside of spec's. I am sure you understand pin weight so if you are satisfied with the capabilities and spec's of the truck you are fine. Enjoy the new RV.
