alabama 411

Has anyone towed on route 411 from gadsden, alabama over to rome, georgia? That's the route the wife is wanting to take instead of following 59 on up to chattanooga then down interstate 75. This will be a Monday morning tow as we are in vicksburg, mississippi to visit the battlefield. John

I have never cut across that way, but "411" is a US Route. I don't have my Trucker's Atlas in front of me but if you consult one you could double check that US Rt. 411 is at least a class II truck route, which I would be about 99% sure it is. Then consult the page for "low clearances" anywhere in Alabama in the Trucker's Atlas just to make sure as you come into Rome there isn't some sort of RR tunnel or something you may run into.

Did the checks and clear on both. Will do the tow to see how it measures up. John

411 is a good road... a few towns along the way, but still good.

Did 411 along with other various roads to end up in adairsville, georgia. 411 in alabama was a great route to take. Really enjoyed the drive a lot. Now I get to sit for two weeks before heading down to sw florida...makes me very happy. Thanks all, john

Oops, too late to get into this post. We've done 411 to Rome and past there on to the Helen area. Glad you enjoyed the ride.
