Not timely, but maybe get the trailer hold-down fasteners?
I think you have it figured out the best you can do. Stay safe.

If possible orient your trailer so it is not cross-wind to the primary wind flow. I.E., If you have alternative sites you can set up in and the prevailing winds are west to east as they usually are, see if you can set up with the rig facing either the east or the west. The hail you cannot do anything about, nor the tornadoes, but the wind can be somewhat mitigated. If you have slide toppers, you may want to retract the slides as well if possible. Just my thoughts,
Bingo

If you are in an RV park find out if they have a tornado shelter on site. Many in tornado zones do.

I hear motel 6 will leave a light on for you. Kidding aside, you know the drill, seek safe shelter for the tornado alerts and have a plan. It appears you are home so you should have options. Stay safe, should of and could of are regrets.

When we were on the road during tornado season we always kept an eye out for grain elevators that we might pull into in an emergency. That's what my folks used to do when they were full timing.

I think I would pull my slides in when the wind hits 50 mph.

Just like Bingo said works for me, I have been in 60 MPH winds on the WA coast and also I pull my slides in halfway too,in my Picture that is where I am at with the Pacific ocean right behind me except that day was nice(rare for springtime) or else I would not be in the open and exposed on all sides like this for sure

Dick just face the unit into the wind if possible. That will cut down on the wind resistance and as has previously been said-- when the sirens sound head for a solidly built building no matter what it is. We want to see you guys up at CPRR!

Just FYI we are home, but no stick house. We have an RV lot we built. There is a closed school across the street and us and many neighbors do use that as a storm shelter. Thanks for the responses, I figured I was missing something and closing the slides is a great idea. More weight over the rams and the slide toppers retracted out of the hail. Great idea, thanks! As for trying to guess the winds that's an issue. Winds here are predictable and we're faced well for those, severe thunderstorms are another matter. The wind can come from anywhere, so I have the truck parked along the side of the rig to try and push the wind up and over. Seems to work to a certain extent.

If you are worried about hail, I suggest you cut and tape cardboard over your vents (unless you have vent covers). Mynabird and Hobo Bob had some serious damage a few years ago just out of Rapid City. They had hail the size of baseballs. I saw Escalades, Lincolns, Mercedes and others beat all up from that storm.

Hail is a major issue here and we do have vent covers. Our last big experience was when we added on to our stick house because hail destroyed the siding and windows on one end of the house and the roof on the whole thing. A number of years before it got our store and as luck would have it both our vehicles were there at the time. Just part of living in Kansas.

Your call - but I wouldn't park my truck next to the rig. You really don't know what direction the wind is going to come from in a T Storm so if it came from the other side and blew the camper over you now have two broken vehicles.

True, but I've learned the hard way over the years not to try and guess with Kansas storms. If I park it near the sheds then they can get it. Under the trees, same thing. You get my point, if it's the trucks time then we'll already have the adjuster on the way and he or she can do a twofer. We would still have our car, if one of the other things didn't get it also.
