Storage under steps to FL

Has anyone tried looking under the steps that go up to the living room to see if there could be storage there. Put hinges on the steps.

That depends on if they are setup for return air for the furnace or not. It always helps to you tell us what year and model your rig is?

On ours that is return air for the furnace so it's open in the winter and closed off in the summer.

Sounds like the owner of one of the infamous front living room or kitchen fivers that have very limited storage to start with. I've not looked under the steps to know what's there.

As a fellow FL owner, I have pondered on the last two FL's about exactly what you are considering. Was thinking about shoe storage there, which would not inhibit enough return air flow to impede the furnace functioning properly. Seems like there were a couple of members in the past that did convert this area to storage by hinging the doors as you describe. However, I am looking at hinging the return grates, not the steps themselves.

Sorry about that. It is a 2012 Montana 27.5fl. The air duck comes up next to the steps in the pass threw. I'm pretty sure all the wiring is on both sides of the steps
