What are you guy's using in the tank in the cold weather?
Any routine for treating like every other fill up or such.
Thanks

I use Howe's or Diesel Service fuel treatments regularly in the winter. With or without, I've not had gelling issues, so maybe I'm buying in to a placebo on this. Peace of mind has no price.

I use Opti-Lube Blue Label. No issues whatsoever...and I add every fill-up during the cold weather season.

Never used anything, even in Kansas winters with windchill I really don't miss. May have just been lucky, but it's been a lot of years.

I used to use Stanadyne when I had my 2 Chevy Duramax trucks. Currently I do not use any fuel treatment with the Cummins.

Before a long trip pulling the 5er I'll add the C and performance booster from Ford to both tanks. Down to 21 this am and started fine.

Having had 3 Duramax diesels always use the white Power Service in the winter and the silver Power Service the rest of the year.

I use Stanadyne or opti lube. I don’t think there is much difference in any of them. I don’t think you need anything. I’d do like to use some Cetane. These trucks are designed to run on 45 cetane our fuel is only 40. Does that help? Maybe?

I think the Cetane / Performance booster from Ford MAY add 1 MPG while towing. That is the only time I add anything.

Is anyone adding fuel treatment to new 2017 2018 Duramax during cold weather?

I don't add anything to my diesel Fuel. If I needed it
Ford would have spec it.

The yankee drivers that used to deliver to us explained to me that they sell #1 diesel up north that has less paraffin in it that reduces the chance for gelling. They also highly recommended using block heaters. I had a couple guys come in that had wrapped their fuel filters in baby diapers (I'm not kidding). Nearly all the drivers kept their engines running in extreme cold if they were not able to get to power for the block heater. Granted keeping your engine running is not practical for us campers but we should have access to power for block heaters. Of course that doesn't help with gelling in the tank and lines but if it's that cold move south LOL

On a related note, a friend and I just got block heaters cords for 20bucks online for our brand new Ram trucks that didn't come with them. FYI All Cummins engines come with the block heater itself installed. The cord is included on top end trim packages but not on the rest. Easy install though and much less costly than a high end trim package that I did not want anyway (we don't like leather or carpet in our trucks).

What high end trim package are you talking about? I have a Laramie Longhorn and I don't have a cord.

I had a 2013 3500 tradesman and it had the snow plow and cold weather group and included the cord and front grill bra. My current ram long horn 3500 only has the snow plow group with the skid plate and no cord but I took the bra from the old pickup and will buy the cord as it hooks to the block in the plug right next to the oil filter.

2017 RAM 3500 w/Cummins - "Cold Weather Group" $95 option. It says it includes "Engine block heater" and "Winter front grill cover" on the window sticker. I think they all come with the engine block heater but if you get the cold weather group option then they include the block heater cord connected and zip tied and the winter front grill cover is included under the back seat.

Well I stand corrected. It's just what the salesman told me. Doesn't matter as I saved some just getting the cord aftermarket and it is an extremely easy install....

Absoutely, it has been -25 around here and if you want your diesel fuel to flow and not gel you better do something.
