I only used silicone behind the rails. The rails are under the gutter so I doubt anything will be able to get in there.

There is no difference in tall vs short arms. the arms are the same for carefree/dometic. Its the mount that is different. I used the tall mounts and have the top of the roll at about 1/8" above the top of the flange. The awning does not touch or rub on the flange as it unrolls/rolls.

With the install of the unfurling stops on the one toper I did the install of the stop that mounts on the coach. The other one rolls up so tight the stop hits the gutter/awning rail so I did not install the bracket on the coach.

Just finished my slide topper install. I removed my gutter rails, which was a lot of work to remove the silicone remnant from the camper. I finally found a product that worked well in removing the silicone. Still took scraping, but the product really softened up the silicone.
The new rails went on fine (was able to use a scissor lift, which really helped with the install).

After doing a restoration on our canned ham: butyl! Vintage Trailer Supply has some other silicone I haven't used yet, but you dan't ever go wrong with butyl. That stuff sticks to air!

What did you use on the silicone?

It's called McKanica Silicone Caulk Remover. I got it from Ace Hardware. It's a pretty thick paste type substance. I put it on the silicone bead, put plastic wrap over the top of it and let it sit for about 3 hours. Took the plastic wrap off and just scraped off the silicone with a plastic razor blade (also from Ace Hardware). Silicone was very soft and came off fairly easy. Did not discolor or harm the fiberglass finish.

I tried to post a picture of it and it didn't come through, but you can google it.

What are you folks spending for 3 slide toppers? Roughly.

Sorry for the slow reply. Just got our power restored from Irma today.
We have a Montana 3100RL. We purchased 3 slide toppers. Dining room slide topper was approximately 122" long, Living Room slide topper was approximately 155" long and the bedroom slide topper was approximately 88" long. The total for the 3 slide toppers plus delivery was approximately $1,100. Probably not the best price out there, but checked on 3 or 4 different sites.
Hope that helps.
