SHOWER DRAINAGE

My wife left the water dripping into the sink during the night & the gray tank filled with water & just starting to backup into the sink. I caught the water backup just in time. I went outside & drained the tank asap.

For some reason the water did not backup into the shower. Being a couple feet lower then the sink, I would have expected the water to also backup into the shower. Does anyone know why this didn't happen ??

Now it seems the shower drains slower then it did before. Would there be some type of anti back flow valve in the pipe that got mis-aligned or something ?? Any help or suggestions on this is appreciated.

Yes, going forward I am leaving the dump valve open on that tank when parked.

Thanks.

Here's what you've got: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004A2YFG4/...I1K80KZJO3JBIH
On our rig it's between the floor joists in the basement. The bladder in it is fixed for water to go in one direction. The first thing I would try is to take it off and push something soft and plastic thru it in the direction of proper flow and see if you can straighten it out. Be careful the bladder is delicate. Second, I'd just buy a new one and replace it.

Larry-- I would do DQDick and dieselguy have said but I myself would not leave the gray tank dump valve open. Besides causing the sewer line to ice up when it is cold enough for water to freeze, you also stand a chance to get two things into your unit: 1. sewer gases from the sewer line and 2. the chance of getting sewer flies into your tank and unit via the open sewer line. I would turn on the faucet early before retiring for the night and see if the sink starts to fill or possibly let another faucet drip(possibly the kitchen sink).

A friend of mine that this happens too also, he uses a plunger and plunges 1 way, meaning he puts water into the shower pan, then pushes down on the plunger, but pulls the plunger back up with his fingers, breaking the seal instead of plunging back up. This pushes the flapper back the way its suppose to go.

Leave the grey tank open...won't hurt a thing.

It is right in behind the plastic cover, I took out the bladder/check valve when our shower got slow and didn't drain. Just re adjusted the bladder in the right direction via my fingers and that was all it took. I suspect the wind or something pushed the bladder in the wrong direction but don't know for sure. Easy to pop out as there are just two threaded couplings that are hand tight to loosen off and out it comes.

You might consider getting a small diameter bottle brush. We have used it to solve the problem described, and also it comes in handy when crud builds up in the drain.

As for that bathroom sink faucet dripping...sounds just like ours. If you don't make sure you center the handle when turning off the flow, it will do the slow drip. Ours was lots worse before I put new innards in it. Got to get a real faucet some day to replace the cheap one. John
