The inside and outside are two separate pieces. We removed the inner one and sandwiched a piece of bedsheet material in between them. Lets in light, but not so bright. Of course, you can choose the level of light by using different fabric.

We used car window tint film that reduces light and heat. We removed the inside part and then made a three piece template for the outside part. The film was then cut slightly larger than the template and applied to the inside of the outside part of the skylight. Since the skylight is a compound curve, you have to use multiple piece of film and you will have some overlap and some bubbles.

We then got some frosted window film and applied it to the outside of the inside part of the skylight, doing this hides any "flaws" in your film application (I had several).

The film can be purchase at Walmart in various darkness ratings so you can have just about any amount of light you want. The heat reduction is amazing, makes the bathroom much cooler.

Use Velcro and car type window shade material. Keeps sun and heat out in summer and then we take it off and store it in the winter when we want sun and heat.

I removed the inner dome over the shower and then went to an automotive parts store. I purchased a tinting paint that they use the to darken taillight lenses on classic cars. Like I said it is a tinting paint and it worked really well. You can darken it as dark as you want. I did it on our last Monte and have done it on our current unit also. It lets in light but it is more of a dark smoke colored light and not the harsh light that comes in with a clear dome setup. I have also heard of some using the foiled bubble wrap. It keeps out the light and also the heat of the sun. Have used that on the windows to keep the unit cooler but never on the shower dome.

Cut a 3/8" Styrofoam packing panel to the size of the opening and velcro it to the bottom of the skylight. Only modification so far has been to superglue the Velcro to the Styrofoam panel. Seems to work great so far. Keeps the cold air out of the shower in winter and heat out in the summer.

Pulled 4 of the screws out, made 4 small tabs and rotate them to extent inward and installed a blacked out piece of lexan, when we want to remove(winter)turn 2 tabs, remove lexan. Takes 10 seconds, and we can have it either way.

Carefree of Colorado has this skylight shade. Just click on interior sun control box. We have had ours for 5 years and it works flawlessly.

We use the velcro on and off sun shade u get from camping world for the rv door window. Works great for the skylight. Keeps heat out and light. Remove when u want it.

I took the inside piece off. Took a piece of insulation used in a house wall, pealed the paper back off it, it was the correct width, just cut a bit long and stuffed it up against the roof part.

Reinstalled the inside part. It provides insulation, allows light in, looks like you are looking at a cloud.

Was a free fix, insulation was left over from insulating a garage wall.

I dropped the inside frame, put in a layer of white paper, completely covering the opening. It acts as a wonderfully efficient white diffuser. This is a trick I use in photography all the time. White diffusers keep the color natural and bright, but not harsh. Keeps the summer sun and heat out, but lets winter brightness in.

I had this on my last Montana. It was great, as you could open it when you want and then close it in the evening so morning sun stays out.

DW made a curtain with loops sewed on opposite ends. She then used spring rods to compress and hold curtain into opening. I would be happy if mine didn't have skylight.

I used 4" foam rubber cut about a inch longer & wider than skylight. Fits snug and stays in place traveling. Have used this type of foam for 7 years and works great. We found the foam @ Army Surplus store.

I use thick oversized bubble wrap (available in bulk at RV shops) with Velcro to keep it in place to block out the light. Planning to change to two parallel L-brackets to make a slide in sunblocker. Hoping this will be quieter than the ripping sound of the Velcro when the shade is removed. Then just slide in to place, quietly.

We also use cut-to-size bubblewrap pieces behind the window covers for the bed side windows and the window at our dresser. We also use the thick padded 14" square vent inserts for the ceiling openings. The room is DARK! If we need to be awake at a certain time, we use an alarm, because the room is as dark as when we go to sleep at night and we might wake up late because it's so dark.
