Cellular Amplifier

Where we are for the summer, we are on the fringe of cellular coverage and are lucky to get one bar. So, we got a Wilson dual-band amplifier and external antenna. It raised our signal strength to the point that Magic Jack, our cell phones, and Verizon Mifi air-card all work well (3 to 4 bars). We bought a mobile system so that we can move it to the TV while on the road. I love to have the DW doing her thing on face-book so that she doesn't "help" me drive.

The system has 2 internal antennas. One has a capability to hold my phone (or air card) on the dash board. Allowing good blue-tooth connection to my radio (or good signal strength for the computer). The other antenna is a proximity antenna that we just hold the phone (or air card) close to. The system isn't perfect, but it solves our problems with connectivity.

Got mine here http://www.alternativewireless.com/c...-antennas.html

I went for the kit with the Antenna so it set me back $469. Mounted the antenna on the ladder with the wire in through the slide. Worked pretty well for me.

The other gadget I have is a USB antenna for the laptop. http://www.ccrane.com/antennas/wifi-...antenna-3.aspx Comes in very handy when the campground wifi is weak.

I work mobile for my job, these 2 gadgets really help.

Along with a Wilson Trucker antenna. Also have a Yagi antenna on a pole if needed.

We use an iPhone and the Wilson "Sleek" with a windshield antenna. Needs a $10 adapter for the windshield antenna. Sleek kit comes with a magnetic antenna. $150 for the Sleek, $30 for the antenna. Very happy with it.

We got our components from Mobile West Communications in Portland, OR. Our cost there was $484 with the kit, 3-watt amplifier, and Wilson Trucker antenna.
