Heading for the California desert our 06 Ford 6.0 super duty let us down again. Starting up a grade the turbo boot tore out and we lost turbo pressure. We had to drop our Monty and limp into a Los Vegas Ford dealer. The dealer got it repaired the same day after a $279 repair bill. If your Ford 6.0 is more than 5 years old, it's a good idea to check the flex boots at both ends of the aluminium turbo tube.

They sell updated hoses for that I blew mine and several others in the MOC did that also. put the inproved hoses on and the better clamps

The hoses become slick from oil and you cant keep them on. Best thing to do like Don said get a set of good after market hoses and clamps. This is one of those cases where an ounce of prevention is worth a day or more of cure.

Above post are right, update your hoses and clamps. I have a 2002 Ford 7.3 diesel and I added after market parts to increase the turbo boost and several times I blew the hoses off when the boost on the turbo increased. I had the newer pipes and the heavy spring type clamps put on and no more problems.

Where do you get the better hoses and clamps?
No problem with my '07 6.0 yet, but I like the idea of preventive maintenance.

I lost boost because the hose clamp broke, I had some work done on the truck which I think caused the clamp problem. I was lucky and got off at next exit at a Lowe's and looked across the street and there was a diesel shop. Had the clamp and the guy on lunch break installed it at no charge so I paid him directly.
Lucky day. The problem started, I think from another shop replacing a cracked exhaust cooler while on same trip. After getting home noticed the plastic water reservoir had to be constantly filled, found crack in tank. Replaced reservoir tank and cap and things have been like new ever since. Antifreeze was replaced with Ford diesel antifreeze.

I have had the same problem for a year. I was carrying a couple of large radiator hose clamps. For some reason, they would hold the turbo hose on while the Ford clamp would not. I am picking up my 6.0 today after Ford replaced the turbo hoses, clamps, a rear caliper that was frozen, and a oil leak on the plate on the front of the engine covering the timing chain? I have an extended warranty and all is covered except for the replacement of the rear brakes. Whew!

A little different subject but a attorney here is advertising on tv about a class action lawsuit against Forn over the 6.0 engine. Says if you have had spent a lot of money on engine repairs to call him.

The only person that will make any money on that clame is that attorney. dont get involved with that scam.

I hate those class action law suits. Lawyers make a bundle, plantiffs (if that is the right term) get a small settlement.
Here is an interesting story about someone not joining the class action suit against Honda, but going it alone in small claims court and potentially doing much better financially. Don't need a lawyer because the other side is not allowed to use a lawyer (at least in California).

Had an 2006 F350 SRW with the 6.0 PSD. Was always concerned when towing if the 6.0 was going to get us there and back, it always did. But we fixed that problem...traded it for a 2011 F350 DRW 6.7. Love the power and the new engine.

I've had the CAC boot issue, replaced it with factory replacement followed by a blow-off...apparently not torqued correctly 9lb-ft. Last summer I replaced all with the BD Diesel hoses and clamps but had the final hose that connects to the intake blow-off, again appears I did not torque correctly... One more note is both "blow-off" events were when I was hard in the throttle towing my 12,600lb Monty up some long steep grades well above 55 mph. I've since changed this behavior by install of my Scan Gauge II and now monitor Boost pressure keeping it under 22 psi which has put me back into a less aggressive driving posture. I still worry but that is my nature...

Wow, mlh... thanks for the link on the improved hoses and some clamps. But why would these cost $178. Are they lined with platinum and the clamps gold-plated? We're talking almost $45 dollars for a short length of hose and the two clamps to keep it attached. That sounds like emotional pricing, making us think that if we pay a lot of money we're okay forever.

btw - I got that letter about the lawyers trying to set up a big lawsuit. It is from "Romano Stancroff & Mikhov PC", Consumer Protection Attorneys.

I have not had any significant failures with my '06 Ford F-250, yet, however a couple of things just came up and I feel after taking it to Ford for warranty work, the truck is gonna be turned into a Ford Courier (remember those?). The problems are: a small oil leak in the back of the engine block (it's messing up my driveway), and a squeaky brake peddle (brakes work, the pedal is just noisy and I want them to look at it but they'll probably spritz some WD-40 on it).

I really hope the dealer service folks don't muck it up, especially the engine block work trying to find the leak.

Otherwise, I am happy with my truck and all the mods I've done to it.

Well actually Art you get 4 hoses and 8 clamps. The cost from Ford is $243.79. You are wright for that prices the hose clamps should be gold plated but I don't think they are. These prices are for a 6.4 which are cheaper from Ford than for a 6.0. The 6.0 factory hoses are made of silicone rubber. The problem with that is they soak up oil and get slick then they WILL NOT stay on. The after market ones are less expensive and are made of better material. The early 6.0 had radiator hose clamps in place of the spring loaded ones. If someone has those you do need to replace the hoses and clamps. If you haven't had trouble by now you have been lucky. One of the hoses popped off of my 6.0 in under 20,000 miles.
