Super Springs
I saw this product at the Tampa show today/ Guy selling it said it is better than air bags. Any thoughts/experience?

I have super springs on my truck. Installed them myself in less than an hour. I like them. I have never had air bags or other devices to compare. These springs are really install and forget them. I have over 100,000 miles on them and they still look great.

Sorry!
They are called Super Springs. They bolt right on over regular springs, and give a gradual assist, as more weight bears down on them. www.supersprings.com

I have them and they are great IMO. As stated install in less then an hour, no maintenance and never leak air. Mine are the 3000# version.

They may be a great product, I like the bags so I can get some of my ride back when I let the air out.

I can see why a guy with a 3/4 ton would want these additional springs, but why would a guy with a 1 ton dually? Or is this just FYI for the MOC?

Simple. Front tires are worn rather badly. I was told by at least two mechanics, when I hook up the rig, the truck sags just enough to throw the front end out of alignment.

If I understand this right these Super Springs are not even working while not carrying the unit behind you. As the tonque weight is applied then is when the Super Spring comes into action. So the ride shouldn't be affected if not towing. Is my assumption correct?

I think that is the idea, but is it so? Several here seem to love them.

I don't believe the ride changed at all, if it did it is very little. I believe they work as advertised. I bought mine from a place in Calf. that was almost $100 cheaper then everybody else, I'll try to find my paperwork.

Don't or can't duallys sag? I have seen many that have some sag. I really like the choice of further enhancements and even though I have a 3/4 my airbags are great. Super Springs...worth looking into for our next, um, TV...maybe! Thanks for the info. Missed it at the Tampa show.

I like my airbags since they allow flexibility, while I think Timbrens, Supersprings or are pretty much fixed in place. Airbags are also generally more expensive, but the all do the same job - provide more support to your existing weight ratings.
I also added the extra hardware (extra overload and brackets) to enable my F-250 to match an F-350 weight rating. Now even when the trailer is loaded the overload spring is not engaged. However, after driving a few hundred miles there are wear marks on the overload spring where it contacts the brackets, so I know they have been needed. Imagine without the overload spring not being there that I was probably stressing the existing F-250 leaf spring set. Now all the ratings are higher than my actual towing load, but a new heavier trailer would mean I need a new TV.
Whatever works to improve your rig combo and there are many options. I have heard no complaints about Super Springs and certainly some compliments about having them (they don't improve the weight rating, but they sure should help with the load).

Adding spring capacity does not increase payload rating on the truck. Airbags and super springs are levelers only. To go beyond the payload capacity of the wheel, tires and axles can be a safety and liability issue. And check the manufacturers specs carefully, even a single wheel one ton truck often has greater axle rating than a 3/4 ton truck's axle.

Yes one tons can and do have sag. This also depends on the build of that particular truck. I have some sag, not enough to worry about, but I know it sags so I will do something to take care of it. I want it perfectly flat as it should be for optimum performance.
Will do some more research on all possibilities before I make my decision. Any help would be appreciated.

I think one of the biggest benefits of adding springs or whatever addon you select, is that it keeps the headlights down at night. I love that I don't blind oncoming traffic, because even when we're driving and oncoming traffic has turned their headlights into high beams that is NO fun especially when it's dark all around. Those headlights can get very blinding. Even DW can tell when the oncoming vehicles haven't "fixed their sag problem". Not all trucks sag, but I hope you can tell if it's going to be a headlight problem.
To all you drivers taking care of this problem, we appreciate it!

Had them on my 2500 and would install them again if needed. They only work when you have a load on so they do not affect the empty ride. They do not leak. They do not need adjusting. Easy to install. Basicly changes a 3/4 ton truck into a 1 ton. Oh and they are cheap. My truck only sagged 1 1/2 inchs when I set the 5er down on it. Found nothing bad about them.
