'21 ck3231 outside propane

Subject Line is wrong.. 3231CK is our model..

Hi.. The DW and I are going on a 3 week journey up the eastern seaboard in 10 days (from Florence SC to Virginia Beach - Washington DC - Chesapeake Bay) This said, she mentioned that she wanted to cook out side sometimes. I was thinking a 22" griddle. These models utilize bottles..but I noticed a propane quick connection just under the front door (or at least I think it is).

Looking for recommendations on the how to's and what fors' on griddles, adapters and anything else I'd need to make her happy (and of course.. happy wife-happy life)

I did see a members mark 22" at Sam's for 99 bucks.. I know we'll need a table also..

That cooktop likely has it's own regulator, and if so, the gas quick connect connection has already been regulated down to 11" WC, so you will need to remove the regulator from the cooktop to make it work.

Here's the model I was looking at. Would I direct connect, or connect to the bottle connection point?

Remove the regulator (circled in red) and connect the quick disconnect hose directly to the grill.
We don't have the quick connect fitting.
We have a 12' hose I connect from the starboard bottle to the grill regulator.

Yes sir. Mine is a Cuisinart but it's identical to the pit boss. Legs fold up lid locks and it has a carrying handle.

I tried doing that with my Coleman camp stove. No matter what I did, I could not get the Coleman to work right. Turns out, Coleman makes only 1 camp stove that actually works, but you still have to purchase the adapter to plug in the the propane line. So, we just continued using the 1 pound propane bottles.

I understand Webber-Q works very well with those quick disconnects on RV, as does Blackstone. BUT NOT COLEMAN.

For what it's worth, we use an electric flat griddle and an electric skillet. For us, this works well. I only use the Coleman stove now, when we need to boil water outside the camper. Then, mostly, boiling water for corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, steaming vegetable's, we just do that inside the camper on the stove top.




This year we purchased 2 new ones. Much better surface than the Presto (Wall Mart) stuff.

FWIW, I've always just carried a couple 20lb propane bottles either in the bed of the truck or on the rear deck of the 5er. They serve as cooking fuel for my grill/griddle as well as backup for the trailer. Like Dutchmen, I also carry an electric skillet...sometimes that's just easier. It mostly depends on how long we will be at a spot and what the weather holds. If I'm going to set up my propane grill I expect to use it more than once.

I love my Coleman! Large grill area, plenty of heat (18K BTU burners v 10K) and the water bath prevents flare up fires. But those 1 LB. bottles are rip off and PIA to boot. Despite rumors to the contrary, you can remove the regulator to enable direct connect to the RV reduced pressure propane supply (or large propane bottles).

Coleman uses a proprietary regulator incorporated into the BBQ adapter.

The secret is to dissemble the regulator from the adapter connection. They are screwed together and do come apart. When it does, the spring, brass ball and rubber grommet that comprise the "check valve" will likely fall out. That is good as you want to remove them anyway so there is a straight shot through the adapter.


Next you will need a 3/8" flare × 1/8" mnpt connector. This adapts a standard replacement propane hose to the Coleman BBQ adapter.

Either a propane hose with an integrated regulator for attaching a large propane bottle or just a straight through hose to connect to the already reduced pressure propane outlet on the RV. I used the integrated 0-5 PSIG regulator hose from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/KIBOW-Adjusta.../dp/B072LRCQD8 This will supply more propane to the burner than the stock regulator. If you want HIGH heat, this puppy will give it to you.

you're gonna love this.. so as i'm looking for the gas grill, griddle top, and quick connect hose.. with all the research, she asked if she could use the laptop, went to amazon and bought this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CEAH57E...t_details&th=1 .. and then she said "Done.." and said "can you mow the lawn now..? " I gotta admit, it's simple and it'll work. she did mention later that she just wants to cook outside 'sometimes' and that i shouldn't make a big deal out of it... so, for now and this trip, we'll see how it works and in the spring if needed, i'll get the pit boss as i'm a vet and can have it shipped to the house for 137.
